Re: Nordstrom to close 16 stores post COVID
I wonder if there is a place for Dillard's in the Pacific Northwest. I am really not sure. But Dillard's is present in ID and MT, so it would not be a giant reach geographically. Still I would not expect to see them with more than a couple stores in OR at the most. I think we would have to see a li...

Re: Nordstrom to close 16 stores post COVID
In some ways Clackamas surprises me a little. While I do feel for various reasons that Clackamas Town Center seems to be starting a decline of sorts, and has a vacant Sears, it is still in a good location near I-205, and is the only Nordstrom on the east side. But then again Clackamas likely doesn't...

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants
It looks like Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes will be the first buffet restaurants to succumb to the current situation: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2020/05/08/souplantation-buffet-chain-may-permanently-close-its-restaurants/3094319001/ To be fair, their restaurants had very limited appeal....

Re: Macy’s 2020
Coronavirus is very difficult to transmit outdoors. Flea markets in California have reopened. The problem with Macy's is that their stores are indoors and that is where the disease can transmit easily. Perhaps if they do a parking lot sale it would draw customers. Sunlight kills the virus. Set up a...

Re: Coronavirus and wearing masks in stores
I have been hearing that the Costco stores in Oregon (where self-serve is generally not allowed except in smaller towns) are refusing service at the gas pumps if you are not wearing a mask, as part of their requirement that masks be worn by customers. I don't see the point at gas pumps especially if...

Re: Wendy's Takes Beef Off The Menu
Wendy's has taken beef off the menu in some restaurants in California, South Carolina, and Kentucky. They say that it will be temporary. There are about 1,043 Wendy's out of beef or 18 percent of their restaurants. Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, and New York are some of the states that are out. Not a g...

Re: JCPenney considering filing for bankruptcy
"the current depressing, dirty, messy, downscale, private label heavy JCP operation at all." Ummmmm, wow! I agree that it's probably time for Sephora to part ways with JCP for a plethora of reasons (one being, it was a leap of over expansion any ways). I'm not a big fan of JCP but I have ...

Re: Coronavirus and Empty Restaurants
I have to say I'm having a problem with the restaurant situation (actually all retail types, grocery, drugs, department, etc.). So many people just won't stay away. It gets to the point where I just wanna scream out, get the XXXXX away PLEASE. Floor marks are ignored often. I rarely eat fast food a...

Re: Albertsons LLC Decor on the way out?
Albertsons Elko has no pharmacy for some reason. It seems like it could really use one. If the shopping center had a Rite Aid, it makes some sense. Albertsons often did not have pharmacies in stores that were located in strip malls where there was another drug store, sometimes a pharmacy was added ...

Re: Coronavirus Fears and Empty Supermarkets
Yes, Bashas did use Hy-Top until they switched to Topco brands in 2002 or so. I'm sure WinCo sold the Hy-Top brand at one time. Menards (midwest home improvement chain) has a grocery section and uses the Parade brand there. I think Bashas does supply some IGA stores in rural AZ. WinCo did in fact h...
