Re: Coronavirus Fears and Empty Supermarkets
Yes, Bashas did use Hy-Top until they switched to Topco brands in 2002 or so. I'm sure WinCo sold the Hy-Top brand at one time. Menards (midwest home improvement chain) has a grocery section and uses the Parade brand there. I think Bashas does supply some IGA stores in rural AZ. WinCo did in fact h...

Re: Restaurant Reopenings
Georgia is reopening restaurants April 27, and other states are reopening soon too. In China, and other Asian countries that have reopened they are using plastic partitions between tables as well as closing off tables in between customers. The employees wear masks, and customers must wear masks unl...

Re: Dollar General eyeing locations in Washington state
invests I suppose you could say that they invest, but it is bare minimum that they invest. Steel or pre-fab looking building, cement floors, in an almost unfinished building... often times only one employee on duty... But they serve a purpose. They actually have quite a good little merchandise mix ...

Re: Dollar General eyeing locations in Washington state
I took an afternoon drive today to Cathlamet, where I have not driven in almost a year. A Dollar General has quietly opened just outside of Cathlamet...not sure how long it has been open but it was not there last summer. Cathlamet has a small grocery store in an old building downtown and a few other...

Re: Coronavirus and wearing masks in stores
Was in a store today and there was a new sign. "If you are purchasing age restricted products, you will be asked by your cashier to temporarily remove your mask." Great... Touch mask to take it off, handle ID with the same hands you just touched your mask with (hope your hands didn't pick...

Re: Wendy's to serve breakfast in all locations in 2020
Saw the promotional signs at Wendy's at 6 last night while sitting in a very long line at the drive thru. Not sure what changed, I've been going to Wendy's the last few Fridays and haven't seen more than 2-3 cars ahead or behind me at most. Last night, same time they were wrapped completely around ...

Re: Fred Meyer stores limiting capacity
The Fred Meyer I shop at regularly has posted signs about this, but the only thing I have noticed is that they have somebody stationed at the grocery end wiping down carts and baskets. No change whatsoever on the non-food end. I went to Walmart for the first time in weeks yesterday and they have som...

Re: Rite Aid changes logo
Notice there has been no roll out of this new logo beyond the press release... I am guessing they realized this is not the time... unless they plan to only use the new logo on remodeled stores. They just re-did their website and app but it is featuring the old logo. This could end up flopping like ...

Re: The Future of Buffets, Salad Bars, and Self Serve?
Buffets have been in decline for a long time and the niche ones like pizza or Chinese food are usually awful. COVID-19 probably will hasten that. Whole Foods seems to have an efficient life cycle approach to the hot/cold bars and takeaway, using leftovers and eventually cycling into refrigerated ca...

Re: The Future of Buffets, Salad Bars, and Self Serve?
One other thing I could see happening is a shift away from self-serve pop machines and moving these behind the counter, some of which already look questionable at times.
