Re: Kohl's Earnings Surprise Crash and Burn

I went into a Kohl's in the Portland area a few weeks back. The men's department was a complete joke. NO big & tall sizes at all, prices were high. And the thing that puzzled me the most is how they have completely removed the registers from one set of doors, which can't be good from a loss prev...

Re: Phillips 66 (76/Conoco) to acquire Marathon (Arco/Tesoro/USA/Thrifty)

The BP brand was used in the Pacific Northwest back in the 1990s (I believe this was before BP owned Arco) but at some point they withdrew and I recall that all the BP stations rebranded to 76. Over time a lot of those gradually rebranded to other things, particularly the Brown Bear Car Wash statio...

Re: Kroger "Boost Member Price"

Seeing more of these 10% off Boost Member Exclusive tags throughout the store... Along with the batch of price increases I notice every week when I shop this chain. Garlic previously .50 now .67. My favorite this week was the Boar's Head Wraps in the deli- they have been 4.99 for years (a true barg...

Fred Meyer 2018 remodel not aging well

Last night I was at the Longview Fred Meyer for a regular shopping trip. This store was remodeled in 2018, and as I shopped, I was thinking that it does not seem to be aging well. The wall colors and the rounded font of the letters were ugly then and are ugly now. The floors have lost the shine they...

Re: Pocatello, Ida. Pine Ridge "Mall" bought by Simon

SuperS, was that Sears relocated from the mall that used to stand where the Pocatello Fred Meyer now is? I think that Sears may have been relocated after Pine Ridge Mall was established (similar to the Idaho Falls move from Country Club Mall) but am not sure. It is interesting how times have change...

Re: Alternative Retail

The problem with many stores in today's outlet malls is that they are often just a regular store with the word "outlet" slapped on the outside with no difference in pricing or quality. Once they lose the concept of "outlet" people shop elsewhere.

Re: Pocatello, Ida. Pine Ridge "Mall" bought by Simon

It is interesting how times have changed. That was actually a pretty nice mall when it opened. Back in the 1980s, my parents would often postpone shopping until we took a trip to the Pocatello area, which happened a few times a year. One huge reason was that Boise at the time (before 1988) did not h...

Daiso to open in Vancouver, WA

Daiso is opening in Hazel Dell:

I think this is a former Tuesday Morning location.

It will be interesting to see if they expand south into the Portland area.

Re: WinCo Expands to Renton

What in the world would they expand to? They seem to run a very standardized operation with stores that pretty much are all the same size, layout, assortment etc. They already have too much square footage even in their busiest stores, and I believe they could expand faster if they simply were willi...
