Re: Aldi lists job openings at multiple warehouses and nearly 30 stores in Northern California
To be fair most Asian grocers are a messy hodgepodge of whatever they think people may buy too... it is usually difficult to find items and this includes the chains especially 99 Ranch, SF Supermarket, and some H Marts everything is just thrown around. There are obviously no planograms. Seafood Cit...

Re: New Temecula Smart & Final
The Good -Better SKU level density in store, much broader assortment than other S&F locations. Example coffee syrups is same footage as other stores but SKU density was double with numerous flavors I've never seen there. Makes me wonder if they manage like Walmart and reduce SKUs in slower sell...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
Looking closely at pricing in your photos I think they have a pricing problem. While their pricing looks great to me since I am so used to the terrible Northern California prices I see most often, Market Basket is a very difficult competitor and I don't think they are competitive with them on mix o...

Re: Red Lobster Considering Bankruptcy Filing
If a chain is in long-term decline, then rising rents will give them more reason to keep closing stores. I'm surprised when I see any of these places that have been named, because they've gotten fewer and fewer. International operations probably keep some of them afloat--chains like Shkey's and Ken...

Yeah, I never heard or witnessed that about Ralphs.
The 2 Ralphs in the Koreatown area are quite busy. I noticed many Asian folks at the Westwood Fresh Fare as well.
Come to think about it, the Fresh Fare by UCSD was usually packed with (I think) mostly Chinese students shopping.

Re: Dom's and Foxtrot Closed, Chapter 7 BK
Dom's and Foxtrot Markets have abruptly closed permanently. One handwritten sign left by workers said "not a joke" and "$180,000,000 in the hole." https://chicago.eater.com/2024/4/23/24138226/foxtrot-dom-kitchen-market-bankrupcty-closing Typical pedestrian business plan with gra...

Re: Red Lobster Considering Bankruptcy Filing
Sit down restaurants (the upper scale types) are thriving in my area but NOT the big chain ones.
Fast Food types are slow except the circus of I&O.
Fast casual are just okay.
Also indepenent sit downs are thriving.

Re: Red Lobster Considering Bankruptcy Filing
Interesting because ten years ago Darden separated Red Lobster and was crucified as if they had sold off their best asset. They must have known something back then, maybe some bad lease deals. Darden is still growing and adding restaurants while Red Lobster has been downsizing and struggling to mai...
