Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Hard no. Those upscale divisions of Albertsons would not work for this Heritage Grocers Group. There is no synergy between what Heritage already has and this would just be additional "no synergy" moves. It's not for synergy, it's for profit. But with Haggen, Andronico's, and Kings/Balducc...

Re: Albertsons/Vons/Pavilions Cutting Store Hours
This is likely another push from Apollo to lower costs. They do this at other retailers they invest in. They have a consultant (AlixPartners or Accenture) who runs sales per hour studies and change all the hours using an algorithm. Usually what happens is they discover later that a competitor will ...

Re: JoAnn-"restructuring"
Yep, I've seen a handful of people in my social media feeds today reacting to the news by mentioning how they are going to miss JoAnn or "at least Michaels and Hobby Lobby will still be around." Let's face it though, how many companies, especially retail companies, survive Chapter 11 long...

I don't know about Haggen and Andronico's since I haven't been to them, but I can certainly speak to Kings and Balducci's. You'd have to seriously rethink how they're being run for them to stand on their own. You'd need major renovations in several stores, a total change of product mix, far superio...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
All kinds of moves happening around with Ahold, I'd thought I throw this out there as well...Giant (PA) is ending its Giant Direct delivery service in the Camp Hill, PA area with delivery now being outsourced to Instacart. Note that the Camp HIll store, which it appears the operations were based ou...
