Re: Martin's reportedly selling 19 Richmond-area stores as part of Delhaize merger
I read somewhere that this could also be an opportunity for Publix to expand in Richmond. I think they are already building one store there from ground up. I'm surprised they're dumping Martin's. I would have thought they would try to dump the Food Lion stores in that market instead. The store at N...

Most Food Lion stores would likely close rather than be divested. Food Lion has too many shortcomings in its stores (i....

Re: Kroger speculated to acquire The Fresh Market
Acquiring The Fresh Market would have moved Kroger into the specialty gourmet grocer segment. As another entity is acquiring The Fresh Market, it remains to be seen if Kroger has interest for additional acquisitions.

Re: Sports Authority Bankruptcy
I have seen Sports Authority struggle against and fall to Dick's Sporting Goods and Academy Sports and Outdoors in South Carolina. It was the only store I bought hockey sticks from. Academy Sports and Outdoors, having locations mostly in the southern and southeastern United States, is a sporting goo...

Regardless of their locations or their consistently high volumes, all Publix stores are not open 24 hours.pseudo3d wrote: Even in college towns or high-volume locations?
