Re: Publix entering Louisville, KY in 2023
I always figured that northern Mississippi (Tupelo, Oxford, etc) and Memphis would be next as it would be easily accessible from their AL distribution center. Louisville will bring them in competition with both Kroger and Meijer. Very interesting. Publix in Mississippi and in Memphis should be step...

What do you think will come of this move? Is it too far-fetched? I personally wonder why th...

Re: Winchester/Front Royal: Martin's Monopoly?
Indeed. It might seem a bit more out there, but given how suburban these towns have become, they can certainly fit Publix in. Plus it gives a good refresher compared to the conventional/discount stores given the sought after upscale option mentioned here. Now I do wonder what hurdles Publix will ha...

Publix coming to Winchester is possible. "How could it be done?" remains to be seen.BatteryMill wrote: ↑August 30th, 2021, 10:49 pm If so, what do you think about sending Publix out to Winchester/Front Royal? Trying to stay on topic here, sorry.

Re: Atlanta Disco Kroger to Close
Kroger hasn't applied that fresh fare interior in the west (was previously seen a lot at Ralphs and QFC, and a couple Fred Meyers or Frys) in over 10 years, but I was noticing in the Atlanta photos how the interior still looked pretty fresh and did not show the signs of ware I see in the stores tha...

Re: Winchester/Front Royal: Martin's Monopoly?
Ever since Shop n' Save ended their efforts in these markets as part of SuperValu's ongoing grocery consolidation, it seems as if Martin's is now the only traditional grocery store across the Winchester market. There are Walmarts, Aldis, and other independents that comprise options in this market, ...

Re: Wegmans cancels plans for a store in NC
How is Food Lion now? They've remodeled a plenty of stores and they still seem to be quite autonomous from Ahold chains. I have not noticed any changes with Food Lion besides updating stores with new décor. Food Lion continues to lag behind other Ahold Delhaize USA banners Giant Company (Carlisle, ...

Re: Pep Boys - out of the parts biz?
New Pep Boys locations that have opened in recent years are automotive service centers. Its store locations for selling parts are few in number, and are not enough to compete with Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, O'Reilly Auto Parts, and NAPA.

Re: Wegmans cancels plans for a store in NC
The RDU area is my home market so I can probably give a little insight as to what I’m seeing in the past couple of years: - Publix has been here for a little under seven years, but has around eight stores; There is another one confirmed for a part of Wake County that isn’t served by Harris Teeter (...

Re: Wegmans cancels plans for a store in NC
Sounds like they've been working on this location for 4 years, according to the story, and the market has become increasingly competitive (LIDL, Aldi, etc etc) with even more competitors since then. Grocery retailers in the Raleigh-Durham-Cary combined statistical area: Hypermarket: SuperTarget, Wa...
