Re: The Fall of Third Street Promenade
...Parking difficulty is a strong contribution to the isolation of the area... The parking situation was terrible. Even when garage spaces were available, the line to get out of the garages were too damn long. I like to walk, so on visits from San Diego I'd park several blocks north and hoof it. No...

Re: Downtown Scottsdale Fry's to become a Whole Foods
After visiting half a dozen Fry's this weekend, I am baffled as to where the criticism is coming from.... I can tell you where it is coming from. Their produce is typically on the verge of being rotten, meat isn't very good, bakery products don't have much flavor, and the stores are a mess. There a...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing
... they could also be buying the brand to ensure it stays dead. If they don't operate at least one location called "99 cents only" (or whatever the hell they were calling themselves when they closed), after a period of non-use another firm could use the name. I doubt that would happen, t...

...All my observations and experiences as well. Spot on!... Thanks. ...At the Promenade I was often boxed in during flooding and forced to face the cluster fxxx of traffic on the other side. Why the heck they did not build overpasses over the river is inane! BTW.......................that trolley l...

Re: Fashion Valley San Diego JCPenney to be booted for apartments
How is the public transit in the FV area? Is the mall itself a hub?... The Fashion Valley Transit Center is located several hundred feet south of the JC Penney store on the grounds of FV. It is a stop on the San Diego Trolley (light rail) and a hub for several bus stops. While that might seem like ...

Re: Fashion Valley San Diego JCPenney to be booted for apartments
The busiest, and arguably one of the best kept and operated JCPenney stores I have seen in SoCal is going to be booted from the Fashion Valley mall to build apartments, even though it is surrounded by delayed or canceled apartment projects. There is plenty of land adjacent to develop instead and a ...

Interesting post-mortem on the bankruptcy. A co-founder was the successful bidder for the assets. The banker took their offer which essentially shutout employees, suppliers, etc. who were planning to sue. https://slate.com/business/2024/05/foxtrot-venture-capital-businesses-bankruptcy-creditors-pay...

Re: Pocatello, Ida. Pine Ridge "Mall" bought by Simon
After being part of John Price to their sale to GGP to GGP offloading this to a family ownership, who actually stewarded the property to the best of their control, the center has been sold to what I assume is Simon Malls as SimonCRE.... Based in their website , the firm isn't related to Simon Malls...

Re: LOI signed for new Albertsons in Ardmore, OK
Reminds me of the Safeway store they built in Queen Creek, AZ, outside of Phoenix.
I suppose they could extend the MCM look if they used the Modern decor package.

...I'm not sure when these stores will give up on these programs and quit tolerating the shrink. When they work at all it is always in a very limited number of stores... My nearby Safeway, located on the fringe of Downtown Phoenix where several affluent neighborhoods meet along a major, well-travel...
