Re: Kohl's Earnings Surprise Crash and Burn

Given the COVID era inflation, Dullard's sales have dropped. Their profits had a COVID bubble but have been in long-term decline (notice that you didn't cite those numbers, but you must have seen them). You also didn't dispute the buy-back which they've been doing for years. At some point, the fami...

Re: Extra Mile Remodeling

There are very few Extra Miles in Phoenix-probably due to the main Chevron branded operator here is Four Sons Food Stores, which have items such as fresh pizza and “Growler Stations” that refill Growler jugs with the local micro brewery beers. Most of the Four Sons seem to be located near freeways ...

Re: Daiso to open in Vancouver, WA

Daiso is coming soon to Menifee, CA as well. Across the street from the (alleged) #1 SuperTarget location. I'll be there when it opens and the lines die down. I believe it is the first location in SW Riverside county. One piece that makes sense for Vancouver, WA: I don't think they have much Asian s...

Re: Kohl's Earnings Surprise Crash and Burn

Stating Dillard's sales "continue to slide" is a flat out lie. They are outperforming the industry (that isn't saying much). Dillard's sales in 2012 were $6.59 billion Dillard's sales in 2019 were $6.2 billion Dillard's sales in 2023 were $6.75 billion This is a declining industry. It is ...

Re: Electronic Price Tags

These price tags were very securely attached to the shelves. I assume that they were glued onto new edges attached to the shelves. Sounds like a nightmare when they need to reset the aisle later. They move things around quite a bit. I'm all for it if it works, but I don't see this particular soluti...

Re: New Temecula Smart & Final

Your perception of Stater's produce is the perception I always have. As a tourist, Stater just doesn't really do very well for me. I always think if I lived there and was cooking I'd have a different opinion and like shopping there, but until that scenario actually occurs, it is difficult to know h...

Re: The backroom at TJs

I think that it is pleasantly surprising to see a typical stubborn European company finally wake up and make some changes for the American market. How many years did THAT take? ;) The entire Temecula valley is served by only one Trader Joe's, and although modern it is still one of those tiny shoebo...

Re: Kohl's Earnings Surprise Crash and Burn

Dillard's sales continue to slide and their profit margins have taken a beating since COVID when they (and others) were able to sell more full price merchandise. I recently visited two of their stores in Ohio. Neither had any customers and one of them seemed to have literally no staffing in the hom...

Re: Electronic Price Tags

Holiday/Sav-Mor in NorCal have been using the electronic price tags for a while and maintenance and execution with these tags has been immaculate. These are not overly high volume stores but they have some traffic. I've seen them over the years in Albertsons and Kroger units but for whatever reason...

Re: Rubios Mass Closing

Rubios entirely pulled out of Northern California. I expect we will see many more chains like this where the value equation doesn't quite work out, pull out of Northern California. Operating costs are out of control in that market. To get staffing in Northern California fast food you actually have ...
