Re: New Temecula Smart & Final
So I said this and then walked into my usual perfect Aldi store today in the afternoon. First time I've been there in a month. I am pretty sure the manager was moved and replaced. Might as well be a different store and it reveals some of @storewanderer concerns. First off, whoever the new manager i...

Re: JCPenney Refresh
JCPenney is spending $1 Billion on store refreshes and remodels to improve their shopping experience according to Brookfield. I doubt any department store chain has made a comparable investment in years. Also doubt it will be enough to address all the deferred repairs. Nordstrom just remodeled its ...

Re: Brookfield: "Death of the mall was a myth"
Despite the "we're working past the department stores" talk, there's a lot of things wrong with malls still. Most of the department store replacements aren't real replacements (often not connecting into the mall), unique specialty stores are almost extinct, and despite hopes that some mal...

Re: Red Lobster Considering Bankruptcy Filing
Many of the closures seem to be in smaller/medium type markets. I am a little surprised they were in some of these markets in the first place. I think they should reconcept themself. Similar to the Jerrys-Black Bear re-concepting decades ago. Throw out all the frozen food, start to make food fresh,...

Re: Kohl's To Open In-Store Babies R Us Shops
Store presentation and operations seem to be drastically improved. I do not see any two entrance stores reduced to one door anymore. Registers are open and staffed. Although I don't have that they stripped down the wall racking I understand why they did it, and at least now there are finally some w...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Exactly. I'm not convinced the FTC/DOJ would have sued if the states weren't taking action. There were too many suspicious events occurring such as the political opposition on TV being concentrated on a few politicians from states where either none or only one of the companies operated. I think the...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
With the low inventory at Rite Aid, customers are now flocking to Target & Walmart to find the stuff they can't get there. CVS & Walgreens don't exactly have good reputations in some these areas where RA has been dropping the ball. The irony is that these singular remaining stores might be ...

Re: Proposed and delayed WinCo in Centralia, WA
About time. Safeway desperately needs competition in this market. Wal Mart also runs extremely high volume there and this will impact them to some extent but recent WinCo openings don't seem to impact Wal Mart as much as they once did. Fred Meyer would have been better but WinCo is a great addition...
