I do wonder if gentlemen's agreements even exist in retail.bryceleinan wrote: ↑April 29th, 2024, 6:40 pm That is the simple answer to the question. Any other kind of answer would leave both chains up to antitrust prosecution, since you cannot prevent competition like that.

Re: Wegmans Cheapening Decor
I'm glad they got rid of ugly displays like the one in the picture. It looks like some flashback from the 70s. I've been to a number of their stores and haven't seen second floor seating anywhere. The DC store, which is relatively small, and has a parking garage (across the street and underneath) d...

Re: Wegmans Cheapening Decor
A few notes on this, and what Wegmans has done away with, or changed in new-builds over the years: -Second-floor seating (except in urban stores, or those with compact designs; usually with large parking garages) -Terrazzo flooring -Pharmacies -Clerestory windows over produce -Lower ceilings -Modern...

Re: Best Buy to Discontinue Physical Media
The main thing is that physical media has become a small niche item and no large national retailer is going to sell a lot of it. There always will be people who want to own rather than rent and collectors who like the "hunt" but they are not going to build volume for a Walmart or Target. ...

Re: Target to discontinue physical media?
Have the likes of Netflix, Apple Music, Xbox/Playstation stores finally been able to supplant DVDs, CDs, and physical video games in entirety? For all intents and purposes, yes. If Best Buy couldn't hang onto physical media, why would Target be any different? CD's? What are those? Movies? I probabl...

Target to discontinue physical media?
Just a rumor, but it seems we have yet another major player inching towards leaving physical media behind, and at the end of the year. https://twitter.com/PhysicalMedia_/status/1780688163243164136 Have the likes of Netflix, Apple Music, Xbox/Playstation stores finally been able to supplant DVDs, CDs...

Re: Wegmans Woes in North Carolina
I have no basis for comparison between DC and NC Harris Teeter stores, but within NC they have a fair bit of upscale competition in stores that focus heavily on perimeter departments like Publix, Fresh Market and some of the newer Lowes stores (plus the handful of Wegmans stores in the Triangle.) I...

This will be located in the south part of Charlott...

Re: Stores that never were: Sacramento edition
Speaking of Elk Grove, the southern Walmart was initially planned as a Target. Walmart, however, stuck with the planned Target shell through construction, hence why it looks a lot like one.

Re: Crucial times for Shoppers
Interestingly to note, of the four locations (re)opened by Shoppers in Southern Maryland last year, there is no word on the Waldorf location shuttering. Perhaps it met profitability measures (being in a larger suburban area) or has generally better reviews than the St. Mary's County bunch that are c...
