Re: Lucky Grand Opening
Thanks for the clarification on all the Lucky's. In looking at the Jackson Hole ad for Lucky's Market, it looks like a great concept. Curious as to why they picked Jackson, unless the owners needed an excuse to visit and vacation there regularly. Definitely heavy on the wine which in Utah is a no-go...

Re: Lucky Grand Opening
They were already using them as clearance stores back when they were Super Saver. All of the pulled AFS merchandise from the Paul's up in Idaho they bought was taken down to those stores to be clearanced at very very dirt cheap prices, I am still going through some canned goods and spices I got the...

Re: Lucky Grand Opening
I thought that Albertsons owned the Lucky trademark and are licensing the name to Save Mart which operates the Luckys Market? I think this is the Albertsons answer to Winco. And I would assume that they could convert slower stores to this concept. I don't know if they would take it to Idaho. Althoug...

Lucky Grand Opening
I went to the West Valley Lucky on November 1. First thing I noticed is that they invested in all new carts, in my opinion the old ones were in good shape and could have been re-branded. I do know that the checkstands were recycled from Acme because prior to closing for 3 days one of the checkstand ...

Re: Lucky/SuperSaver Utah
My thought was that Albertsons now owns the name, and therefore licenses it to the SaveMart operator. It's possible that they have to license it to them for free though.

Lucky/SuperSaver Utah
Went in to West Valley Super Saver and the deli cases appear to have been installed along the back of the store. Currently only a few deli salads and pre-sliced meats and cheeses, similar to Winco. Room for much more. They must be bringing in clearance from the warehouse. There was a clearance froze...

Honeybee produce
The produce department was ok. My wife was excited they had butter lettuce @99 cents each. The bakery section is decent, they did bring in some vegan cakes from a local bakery. But as someone who is allergic to dairy, there is nothing I can eat in their individual donut case, or store made display c...

Honeybee makes Whole Foods look like a bargain
Sorry, but I couldn't think of how else to title this. Associated is opening an Ace Hardware in 20,000 sq. ft. of this old Albertsons / Fresh Market location. Which leaves the Honeybee at 35,000-40,000. By all accounts they are trying to position this as a "Natural Grocer" concept. On my v...

Re: Super Saver Utah Photos
Does Albertsons own the Maxx Foods name? I thought that was a Supervalu name. My guess is they are going almost full service except for the bag your own. In the mean time they are running some good ads. I thought the Snack Artist chips last week at .95 were a good deal. And 24 pack water 3 for $5. h...
