Re: Mercado Gonzalez Northgate opening, "Wegmans" or "Bristol Farms" of Hispanic grocery stores

@ClownLoach did you see this story in the LA Times yesterday? I feel like you conjured it. :)

The publicity certainly won't help with the crowds, but word definitely seems to be spreading.

Re: 'Target CEO claims customers are saying ‘a big thank you’ for locking up merchandise'

Just wanted to comment on the Drive-up issue. I bounce between Target's Manhattan Beach (remodeled Greatland with Ulta) and Torrance (odd wide and shallow layout, but two entrances. I'm guessing it opened as a Greatland? No ulta but expanded beauty). I also visit the Encinitas El Camino Real store w...

Re: Macy's Opening 30 Small Format Off Mall Stores

That is very bad. I shop markdowns for certain types of merchandise (bagged salad for one, some dairy items), won't touch them for some other things (like any bread product and generally meat), but I never expect a markdown. If I find a markdown great, if not then oh well. I recall hearing F&E ...

Re: Kroger paying for licensed music in ads...

I think that including familiar, catchy songs is core to Kroger's current Kroji ad strategy. So music licensing is probably built into the budget -- they also save a bunch on human actors since everything is animated. [Small voice] I must admit that I find some of the Kroger ads amusing / catchy. Be...

Re: Costco cracking down on card sharing

This is a fascinatedly relatable thread. Two weeks ago I was visiting my parents and stopped in at the Carlsbad, CA Costco with my mother. She is a total shopaholic and a huge Costco fan -- she often refers to her "Personal Chef named Costco" and spends tons of unnecessary money there. (Sh...

Re: Amazon Halts All New Amazon Fresh Just Walk Out Stores

Anyone else see the puff piece in the WSJ about Amazon's grocery business? An excerpt: Amazon has been dabbling in the grocery business for years. It launched its first grocery storefront on its website in 2006 and bought Whole Foods Market for $13.1 billion 11 years later. Soon after, Amazon began ...

I don't believe so – there is a WM Neighborhood market a couple blocks west at Rosecrans and Inglewood. Still open I believe. The Target was previously a BigSaver hispanic market.

Re: Target 2022

The Westchester LAX small format Target is a disaster. My office is near there and that Sepulveda corridor in Westchester near LAX can be a bit sketchy, but it seems like all of the sketchiness convenes at the Target. It really damages the brand. Even worse is the small format nearby in Lawndale at ...

Re: Albertsons Cos Advertising

I thought "VONS is VALUE" was their strongest slogan by far. Short, to the point, and rolled off the tongue nicely. That was back in the mid-late '90s, I believe. Of course, they couldn't use that slogan today, as it's just not true.
