Two Harris Teeters in Charlotte closing (one temporary, one permanent)
According to the Business Journal, Harris Teeter will be temporarily closing their store at the 4101 Park Road (Park Road shopping center) for a remodel effective January 2020. Though the exterior received cosmetic updates in recent years, the store still had 1980s decor in a couple of places. Anoth...

Re: Changes at Kroger?
I seen the Reddit post. Anyway, I personally don’t know how to feel about this but I think Rodney McMullen has made too many missteps (Restock Kroger) and should be let go himself. A couple of people mentioned that Mid-Atlantic (my old division) lost a lot of management positions, themselves. That’s...

It has finally arrived: Raleigh, NC Wegmans location opens
Interesting tidbits: - Apparently this store marks a milestone for Wegmans: they are now at 100 stores even - Per various news sources, over 3,000 people waited in line at the grand opening - This store comes in at 105,000 square feet, which is a little small compared to other stores opened within t...

Re: Kroger and creepy PA Announcements
Also, I am glad I have not experienced the self checkout ending with a song at Smiths or Fred Meyer. That sounds very creepy. Imagine the self check attendant hearing that hundreds of times in a shift. Yikes... Why are they concentrating on crap like that when they don't even have NFC working on th...

Re: NoVA Harris Teeters reducing hours
It’s not just the Northern Virginia and Maryland stores that are cutting their operating hours; most of the NC stores I’ve seen have cut their operating hours as well. This strikes me more as a a Kroger corporate move since Kroger has been shedding 24 hour stores themselves.

Re: Harris Teeter ditches manned checkouts at Uptown Charlotte store.
Harris-Teeter is kind of joke as a high end operator and I suspect Kroger in their current efforts to homogenized their operations will make this even more so. Publix, which is no Whole Foods, plays the part better. Harris Teeter is quite excellent in the Carolinas. If you get to one of their large...

Apparently this is a small store (16,000 square feet) with a lot of small transactions.
Interestingly, no one is getting laid off due to this move.
