Re: Rite Aid Goes Bust...West Coast Stores??

I think Thrifty Ice Cream would be a great fit for Stater Bros. In southern California, most Smart & Final and Smart & Final Extra locations carry Thrifty ice cream in a 3 gallon tub, usually vanilla. Some locations will carry other flavors - usually though it's just vanilla. For me, I want...

Rite Aid Goes Bust...West Coast Stores??

Let's see...naysayers were complaining that Mr. Murdoch, owner of the Wall Street Journal and his reporters were publishing false information that Rite Aid would file bankruptcy. The WSJ was correct in publishing factual information. I'm glad the WSJ was re-affirmed in their reporting. Anyone who f...

Re: Walmart Says Weight Loss Drugs Reducing Food Sales

In my opinion, his comment is off-base. Sure, he sees his pharmacy sales numbers, including Ozempic and other similar drugs. As other have pointed out - how many scrips are being written for "off-label" uses such as weight loss vs. for diabetes medication - as intended? Recently, I have ob...

Re: Rite Aid South Lake Tahoe- Suspension of food permit

The rating posting seems to be a county by county thing, I don't see it much in NorCal. I think San Francisco does that. Rite Aid still can't run the ice cream counter in South Lake Tahoe. They have barely had that open since they installed it (former Payless Store). I don't think Truckee has it op...

Re: (Sorry a little "off topic") Johnson & Johnson personal care products new name

The Nabisco branding seems to have been downplayed in recent years. If you visit the Mondelez Product 'Consumer' Page , there are no mentions of 'Nabisco' at all besides the logo in the pictures they use of food packaging. I imagine it will eventually be dropped entirely like Kellogg did with it's ...

Re: (Sorry a little "off topic") Johnson & Johnson personal care products new name

Still a better spinoff name than Mondelez. That name was horrible from the start, and remains horrible now. We should have some humor with the name Mondelez, they do in Russia. What is funny is I learned of the rename to Mondelez when I was in some store that lists the name of the DSD vendor on the...

Re: WSJ: Rite Aid plans 400-500 store closures in pending bankruptcy filing

The entire west coast operation is legally "Thrifty Payless" from a licensing perspective. It is just that Payless name that they sold. However a quick visit to the trademark database seems to reveal that the OR group who bought the Payless name has let those trademarks die. Someone tried...

Re: WSJ: Rite Aid plans 400-500 store closures in pending bankruptcy filing

Dollar General should just get into the Pharmacy business and take them all out :P. Imagine having the prices and variety of a Dollar General with a pharmacy counter! Actually, from my understanding, DG has been looking at offering some kind of pharmacy service(s) - whether it may be a referral pro...

Re: Rite Aid South Lake Tahoe- Suspension of food permit

I'm sure Walmart loses some customers who see the "B" rating. I was out there really to see the impact (again) on the local SCV marketplace - and the divestitures that Kroger will have to make in that community - kind of ugly if you ask me. Looks similar to what happened to ABS when they ...

Re: Rite Aid South Lake Tahoe- Suspension of food permit

FWIW, on Sunday I was out in the SCV (Santa Clarita Valley) and stopped into a Walmart. This location opened as a traditional Walmart and later morphed into a smaller sized Supercenter. This location has recently completed a hard remodel - but the location is too tight to fit all the merchandise and...
