Re: Stop & Shop closures
Not a huge deal, but it sounds like a Stop & Shop in Trumbull, CT is being run poorly enough to have a Change.org petition . Sounds like this store hasn’t been remodeled in the current wave yet. To me, this is a small thing but indicative of the potential for Stop & Shops low standards for s...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northeast Impact
Could have been a number of things they did at Kings and Haggen. They bought both assets out of bankruptcy... What is another asset currently in bankruptcy... True. I think, though, because it was connected to them talking about pricing, it was more like that — I think I heard them talking about pr...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: Northeast Impact
Random observation: I was on a commuter train home last night and sat behind three people who appeared to be Albertsons management, probably visiting from elsewhere. They didn't seem to be too familiar with the area or the train system. I did hear them talking about pricing (and now I wish I were pa...

Re: ALDI to acquire Winn-Dixie
I saw those as well but was thinking this was talking about plain unstuffed pasta (aka just linguine, spaghetti etc.), and those didn't seem to be found on the SR site (just the ravioli and such you are referring to). Ah yes, I know those used to be under the ShopRite Kitchen brand (...I think) but...

Re: ALDI to acquire Winn-Dixie
Bought some Bowl and Basket Refrigerated Pasta at Grocery Outlet; Product of Italy. Clean list of ingredients and no added salt. Not a bad product for 0.99. It seems to be selling poorly; they started it at 1.49 then moved it to 0.99; they expire mid April and they have quite a bit left. 5 minutes ...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
It looks like a significant amount of the meat is case ready? Yep, Stop & Shop doesn't cut meat in-store anymore and mostly the service windows have been closed or removed. In some of the new remodels, they have added in service meat counters, although I'm not positive you can have anything don...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
These photos are troubling. It is well past the first of the month, no holidays, and odd scattered out of stocks. This seems similar to how A&P did things before it closed divisions. Inventory levels got really low, like drugstore style, all over the store. They stopped caring about things like...

Re: Stop & Shop closures
Visited another 11 Stop & Shops today -- one in northern NJ and the rest in the Hudson Valley of New York (Orangeburg to Hyde Park). Some updates on what I found. The store conditions vary (both in terms of maintenance and in-stock), but generally stock is thin across the board still. Some of th...

Re: Whole Foods To Open 7,000 Square Foot Stores
They have some of these small size stores in the bay area already but they are standard Whole Foods banner and just as described in locations where a full size store cannot fit. They probably figured out these little stores get far higher ROI so they will go forward and expand them. Of course the n...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I wonder if we see this deal called off by the end of the week... Ready for a crazy conspiracy theory? Kroger-Albertsons merger is called off. We go back to Plan A and one of them acquires or merges with Ahold Delhaize's US division. Now hear me out. It's obvious that Stop & Shop is struggling ...
