Re: Albertsons’ Soaring Prices

Harris-Teeter does much the same, buy 2 get 3 free. But many times even 60% off is still not a great price.

You really need to know the average everyday prices to know when a sale is really a bargain or not...

Re: Short staffed restaurants

[snip]Customers who showed up at Boston Market on Foothill Boulevard in Rancho Cucamonga to pick up their prepaid meals on a blustery Thanksgiving morning were in for a shock. The doors to the restaurant were closed. A sign outside read: “No employees showing up today… we are unable to fulfill the ...

Re: Albertsons’ Soaring Prices

[snip]Latest pricing trick at Safeway: Only putting certain "varieties" on sale on items. Yes, the ads have always said selected varieties, but typically all of the items are on sale in a given product family. We have this out on the east coast as well. One time they had Suave shampoo on ...

Re: BBQ Holdings: HomeTown, Old Country Buffet

I was the geotech for the Old Country Buffet that was built in Manassas VA back in the 1990's. It closed about a decade or so ago and is now a Hibachi Buffet. The Long John Silver's in the same plaza is long gone as well.

Never ate there so I know nothing of the quality.

Bradford! You're not following "Bless the Harts" joke that in NC the two things that fly off the shelves are yes, your number 1 (bread) but what about MILK?

Hope y'all are having a nice day.
I knew I'd forgotten something!

Re: Shortages

Agreed. Witness every winter in northern VA when the four letter word beginning with "s" and ending with "w" gets mentioned. Stores get mobbed and the following disappears (not necessarily in this order): 1) Bread 2) Eggs 3) Bottled Water 4) Toilet Paper 5) Ice Melt/Salt/Kitty Li...

Shortages

Has anyone else in the northern VA area noticing that shelves are once again becoming empty? And both my brother and I have noticed that Aldi has been raising prices. This has been predicted (there are a lot of articles about shipping delays and lack of drivers) but how bad is it going to get before...

Re: Safeway Sterling closing

I was saddened to hear this. I help build the McDonald's in the parking lot back when I was a geotech and used to shop there from time to time. My though is that Safeway is facing massive competition from not only Giant but Aldi and Lidl and is feeling the pressure. The store here in Leesburg seems ...
