Kroger is opening an Ocado warehouse in the Charlotte suburb of Concord. Might Kroger begin competing with themselves with a delivery-only model in North Carolina or might this be really for Harris Teeter. H-T is still expanding, btw, with a new store going up on the former Walter Reed campus. This will work out well for Upper Northwest, much of which goes to Silver Spring or Takoma Park to shop, and would get traffic from across the District line given how Silver Spring lacks a higher end option and...

My hunch is that labor costs are eating them up. Their whole business model was based on low wages, and they can't stay profitable if they raise them to Whole Foods and Amazon levels. If that was true, they would be rushing to exit the District as whole given that Giant, Safeway, and as of next yea...
