Re: Kroger

I too saw a lot of fresh turkey available the week after Thanksgiving for as low as $5 each (Raleys- some of those were regularly $40+). I have noticed Kroger ran some better ads the past couple weeks (mostly with the digital "hoop") so I am guessing they had lousy numbers at Thanksgiving. Only 10 ...

Speaking of Calabasas if you happen to have $40 million in the bank you can buy the shopping center: https://www.crexi.com/properties/156734/gelsons-village-calabasas And speaking of Century City, that store is not setting record sales by any means. One of my best friends is a manager in that store...

Re: Kroger

Ralphs must have a lot of turkey leftovers post Thanksgiving. One store near me, National & Sawtelle in West L.A. (Westdale location) has had the .47 lb Kroger frozen turkey (with $25 minimum) offer everyday since the Thanksgiving ad. Actually, it's in the Ralphs ad for all locations this week. I've...

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

Many Gelson's associates from Santa Monica will be transferred after the holidays. They have already been told the store locations they will be transferred to (as far as Long Beach, Silverlake and SFV). The one day training in other locations was to put them in a busy store environment which they do...

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

Has any new competition impacted the original stores that existed back when they were publicly traded that may have caused volumes in those stores to drop? Bristol Farms took over the former Haggen/Vons in Woodland Hills which has had an impact on the Calabasas store. They will also be opening in t...

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

I have noted in previous posts that the store is not very busy, as well. This location is clearly not working for them. I wonder how long they will give it to find it's niche before closing it. I have been there three times since they remodeled between 5-7 p.m. when supermarkets are generally busy ...

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

I don't know what is going on with the Santa Monica location but many of the clerks and managers from that location have been working at Manhattan Beach, Marina del Rey and Century City as of late. Down to one or two checkstands open in Santa Monica at most times. They had a terrible Thanksgiving we...

Re: CVS to focus more on Healthcare

What if CVS sold off their front end operations to Target? This would certainly give Target some needed growth in their new smaller-store formats. It has been rumored for years that CVS would outsource some of its front ends to Target. It hasn't happened yet. Many CVS Stores are probably too far go...
