Save Mart installing new pinpads
Went to a Save Mart today. SIgnage was posted (it was 5:45 PM) and an employee was at the door stating that they were not accepting credit, debit, or EBT at this time. I walked through the largely deserted poorly stocked store anyway. As I walked out I noticed they had installed new pinpads up at th...

Re: Smith's Marketplace to expand beyond Utah
Raleys tried hard in New Mexico and did nice remodels to the Albertsons Stores they bought (and basically rebuilt one Furrs it appears less than a year before exiting the market) but left a couple Furrs largely untouched or barely touched. Albertsons on the other hand has a mess of old Lucky Stores ...

Re: Smith's Marketplace to expand beyond Utah
I would also tend to argue that NM is not similar to AZ. But NM is not similar to Las Vegas or Salt Lake City either. Those NM Smiths are a little different from the others in terms of their product quality and merchandising...

Re: Smith's Marketplace to expand beyond Utah
I think Smiths has a good reputation in New Mexico. They have routinely been voted best grocery store in the Albuquerque market for quite some time. From what I saw there, those stores execute well and seem to have a better quality reputation than Smiths has in other places (they have really improve...

Re: More big losses for JCPenney
They have started to reissue those $10 off any purchase coupons again to customers on their e-mail lists... they did it in December, did it again a few weeks ago, and I think may have done it again this week. I'd be interested to see the profit loss too. Part of the sales decline definitely results ...

Re: Sprouts Farmers Markets Credit Card Reader Breach
This is a bit different since PIN numbers were not stolen and the physical card readers themselves were not compromised. Rather, it was a situation where software was bugged and the compromise happened that way. I see Save Mart has STILL not replaced its card readers. I know nowhere else using those...

Re: The slow death of Quizno's ?
I used to go to Quiznos fairly often when we had more open in my area as a couple were really convenient and I used to keep getting coupons (which they accepted). I never had any problems omitting ingredients or even deviating from the sauce designated on the sandwiches. With that said, I felt the q...

Re: Equipment Auction- SoCal "NEW EQUIPMENT"
I actually like the stores too as I got to experience more of their products over the past year. They have made a lot of improvements to mix and they have a ton of great items, both fresh items and packaged items. I will be sorry to see them go. I do not think selling off all of the equipment bodes ...

Re: Lacey, WA TOP Foods to close
Yes, two stores in Portland far removed from the rest of the base doesn't make much sense. Those two stores are pretty close together and I would guess they can exist relatively easier for ad/vendor reasons. I have no idea how the stores do; Tualatin was the first Haggen I ever visited but I never h...
