Re: Save Mart what is up
I agree with and have observed everything you guys have said about Safeway. Yet the Safeways are doing far, far more business than these Save Mart operations despite their major problems. Why? Because Save Mart runs a terrible store. It has nothing to do with the employees. As Save Mart has driven o...

Re: Save Mart what is up
Food Maxx Stores have been hit very hard by WinCo in a number of towns. The volumes are way off. That format (and Kroger's Food4Less format) are outdated poor warehouse formats. As you describe, the format needs changes. They need to add more products. They need to add a service bakery and deli. The...

Wal Mart considers 17 new stores in Portland

Laughable. Wal Mart has no clue what it is getting itself into trying to go head to head against Fred Meyer in this manner, in Portland...

Smiths Closing Store
Carlisle near the interstate in Albuquerque. This one was a real dump. It is similar to the one that is branded Price Rite down on Arnel, though was a little more updated with a mid 1990's repaint.

New build Fred Meyer in Lynwood? Where is this store?
The (very) limited electronics departments in the Frys Marketplace Stores all got moved out of the small front alcoves that FM had them in and out into the main store area.

Re: Milwaukie, OR: Offsite, standalone Fred Meyer gas statio
This is happening in Albuquerque with Smiths too.
Somewhere back east is a Safeway gas station located around the corner from a store; they took an existing Exxon and converted it. This was a number of years ago.

Re: Fallon Raleys now Raleys Food Source
Short answer: Yes. Food Source already failed in Rocklin and Folsom with WinCo and Wal Mart Supercenter (plus at the time Safeway, Albertsons, Raleys, Ralphs) competition. Why they are trying to run this format again in neighborhoods with similar or even more intense competition is beyond me. The fo...

Fallon Raleys now Raleys Food Source
This is the first I've seen with a small Raleys logo above the Food Source. As if putting their logo on it is going to give this awful format any credibility, it will really just tarnish their good name. http://www.lahontanvalleynews.com/article/20110407/NEWS/110409901/1055&ParentProfile=1045 Ra...

Re: Lunardi's To Reopen Former Cosentino's Market
I had a good laugh in some of the Albertsons LLC Stores in NM that used to be Raleys. Some had signs up that said "unloading your cart is our job" and similar leftovers from Raleys as they had maintained the cashier unload checkstands from Raleys. I do think I've seen conveyor belt checkst...
