Re: Alternative Retail

This bin operator called Falling Prices in NorCal who seems to deal almost exclusively with Target runs a side format called BID RL where the "better" items go. You bid on items and go pick them up. Items change weekly. I don't see much activity there. When they opened they had a mix of Ta...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing

The format 99 Cents Only tends to run is quite a bit bigger than Dollar Tree, I remember one store in Houston had Dollar Tree replace one but didn't use all the space. I'm not sure if "returning to grocery store space" is a good idea; most of them seemed to be outdated, small spaces in wo...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

Late reply to this - only one photo on Google Maps that has the current decor. I forget what our current nickname is for it, but it's a slight modification of the installed "Florida" decor. This is also what the Albertsons > Safeway at Rock Creek area of the Hillsboro, Ore. area received ...

Re: Sears & Kmart 2024: Will someone please put them out of their misery?

Do you think Sears could compete with Ross if it went to that type of a format? I just don't think they have enough locations left to buy at the scale needed to compete with Ross/Burlington. I was shocked to see how restocked these clothing departments were. From a casual glance walking around a si...

Re: Cracker Barrel Price, Menu, Store Size Changes Coming

I think the store area was a lot busier back when Cracker Barrels frequently had long waits to be seated. It gave people something to do while they were waiting. (This also accounts for the rocking chairs out front.) Maybe there are still waits at certain times of day and in certain locations, but ...

Given their history of scandals and dated not so healthful food, I would love them to just disappear.
Sounds like a typical chain business; scandals and controversial quality of products.

No different than Denny's in the early 90's.

Re: Five Below - Self Checkout Not Allowed

Five Below attracts teenagers and young adults due to the pop culture items. The stores look fancy with colorful signage. Many of these customers would never set foot in a messy Dollar Tree. Trying to sell Five Below items at Dollar Tree will be hit or miss. The pop culture items may sit there for ...

Re: 99 CENT ONLY closing

Dollar Tree is trying to purchase 58 leases. 37 in CA. Includes Reno and Carson City in my area. Dollar Tree can't run the stores they have here, don't know why they think it is a good idea to add any more. Terrible operator. Ugh. Couldn't it be something better- anything better? Seems there is alw...

Carls Jr. Reduce Dine In Hours: Sacramento Area

Went to a Carls Jr. in Sacramento area. This location was open 24 hours before COVID, not entirely sure why, but it was. Since then it has been open like 5 AM to 2 AM. Dine in was open until 11 PM. It is one of the previous corporate units now run by some franchisee. They actually do an okay job. Ne...

Re: Did Carl's Jr on Sierra College Granite Bay ever have a playground??

I forgot the Carls Jr. in Auburn on Lincoln Way which is out of business now, used to have an outdoor playground. This was always a franchise unit and had this from the time it opened. Mid 90's unit as I recall. Older than it looked.
