Re: Dick's House of Sport
I only have been inside of three Dick's stores - Reno, Medford (OR), and one in Kansas City. Medford is interesting with Field and Stream, however, as you and others pointed out, those stores are on their way out. Not sure what they are going to do with Sportsman's impending buyout by Bass Pro - th...

Re: Target 2021
I'm actually surprised the Carson City store is still around - at one point, it was one of the lowest-performing stores in all of Target. As far as the food section, I think it would do well in there considering exactly what you pointed out - Walmart and Raley's are about it for decent grocery stor...

Re: Supermarkets giving COVID vaccines in your area
Some pharmacies are taking down names on a phone wait list. That way they can call people who want the leftover vaccine doses. Walmart pharmacy is one of those pharmacies that does that. I've been in multiple stores lately where announcements have been made by pharmacy staff that they have (some nu...

Re: Safeway closing its Jantzen Beach (Portland, OR) Superstore
You were reading my mind about the Reno store, lol. I think the smallest F & D store I have seen is the store in Rocklin - I assume it might have been a Ralph's in its previous life? Rocklin Floor & Decor was actually a purpose built Food Source (store built as Food Source). Raleys closed t...

Re: Raleys converting Reno Store to ONE Market Format
This is just a weird decision, especially with Galena High and the TMCC/UNR Redfield Campus across the street. I think Raley's is going through an identity crisis in that they want to be more like Whole Foods or Sprouts, yet they have been a full-line store since their inception. You're right that ...

Re: Safeway closing its Jantzen Beach (Portland, OR) Superstore
The Safeway store is too small for a Floor and Decor. That store is about 25,000 sq ft too little. The bridge project is a wildcard. ODOT could just buy the building but now it will cost them more. Your government at work! And that story about structural issues in the former Zupans is BS. It's how ...

Re: Could Kroger be preparing for a Florida move-in?
This still seems like an expensive distraction. I'm not sure what percentage of delivery grocery shopping regular stores operate from, but for the most part it's probably not much. If Kroger wanted to invest in Florida, then they can expand Harris Teeter beyond their one store in the state (which t...

Re: Smart & Final Corona Del Mar Closed
Their consumer pricing isn’t bad. Looking at their app, they have multiple varieties of apples for 99c/lb., three pack of romaine hearts for $2.50, 14 oz. canned fruit for 79c, cake slices for 1.99 each, etc. These prices beat Walmart. Many others are slightly more than Walmart, but less than Ralph...

Susanville, CA CA State Prision Closing - Retail Impact
https://www.rgj.com/story/news/2021/04/14/california-shut-susanville-prison-inmate-population-dwindles/7224378002/ This is interesting. 1,000 people are employed at this prison and the population of Susanville is around 15,000. I have to think this closure is going to cause a material decline in the...

Re: Could Kroger be preparing for a Florida move-in?
Kroger FL Ocado Warehouse is open.
They will have Kroger delivery vans run by Kroger employees with refrigeration to do deliveries... first I knew of that this was part of their plan.
