Re: Jack in the Box Daily Free Item

Here they have good/steady drive through business but dine in is empty, even at lunch, and it doesn't matter which location. Breakfast Jack is cooked fresh every time- excellent product at 2 for $3. Would like to try it with cheddar but can't figure out how to do that in the app. But the 3.49 each a...

Re: New Temecula Smart & Final

I wonder if the gas station in Murrieta makes them any money. When Kroger watches sales for stores they exclude fuel and pharmacy since those areas aren't considered "controllable" by store management in driving sales. So the gas station may help the overall picture in Murrieta. Do any of ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

I'll check but I am seeing some outrageous new full prices pretty much everywhere except for service deli and produce at my local Ralphs. Some rapid fire increases like the Simply fresh hash browns going from $2.99 to $4.79. Challenge whipped butter from $3.49 to $4.99 for a small tub. What's inter...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

That answers my question, but I would not be surprised if the inventory management is making the problems even worse. The automatic replenishment systems used by these chains are so dependent on sales history that even if they are back in stock at the warehouse on all items they would likely fail t...

Re: "Schnucks Fresh" stores

Schnucks is interesting. I'm surprised they aren't keeping the Columbia location with this branding. They didn't really remodel it from the Lucky's Market interior. That is a good location so I am not surprised they are keeping the store open. That newer unit they opened as Eatwell must have been a ...

Five Below - Self Checkout Not Allowed

Another braindead chain who must have decided to follow Target's non lead on restricting use of self checkout (of course now Target isn't restricting anything to do with self checkout in any store I've been into). This at Five Below is not quite as bad as Dollar General who completely killed the sel...

Re: Kohl's To Open In-Store Babies R Us Shops

I have never seen more than 1 or 2 people in those Sephora shops. I also wonder where Kohl's came up with these supposedly good sales numbers. Last year, LVMH (Sephora's parent) did €86.2 billion in revenue and €22.8 billion in profit. That's a profit margin of 26%. So it's seems like the beauty pr...

Re: Proposed and delayed WinCo in Centralia, WA

I think the WinCo pricing on non foods makes senee. They know their customer is going to shop for the lowest price and they cannot achieve economy of scale in those categories where the customer is already shopping Walmart, Target, Costco or Sam's. They carry them for convenience purposes only and ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Odd question. Any chance some of this problem is related to wildly bad forecasting and logistics planning? I ask this because I've seen the aftermath of even one store in an underserved area closing, then the next closest store becomes overwhelmed with customers and the in stock rate plummets. Base...
