Re: Extra Mile Remodeling
Went to that Extra Mile with the new logo last night. They have a "grand reopening" going on. All hot/cold drinks are 99 cents + 1 free banana (ongoing Jacksons promotion) with any drink purchase. The fountain cups all say Jacksons. The coffee cups they had a couple sizes that said Extra M...

Oh... this is the oil segment ... not the refining segment... of both companies... not even relevant to this board since these companies don't operate gas stations...

Re: Kohl's Earnings Surprise Crash and Burn
However, owning their own buildings means that they have a much lower threshold to break even. So even a slow store may be profitable. Plus who knows if they're getting incentives from the mall owner or city to stay open? I have noticed that Macy's has been very heavy on promotions the last couple ...

Re: Kohl's Earnings Surprise Crash and Burn
Dillard's sales continue to slide and their profit margins have taken a beating since COVID when they (and others) were able to sell more full price merchandise. I recently visited two of their stores in Ohio. Neither had any customers and one of them seemed to have literally no staffing in the hom...

Re: ARTICLE: Giant bans customers from carrying large bags in DC stores amid mass shoplifting
The retailers should have a "locker" set up in the front end area or even right outside the entrance-exit area. Wal Mart had lockers in a couple stores in Reno. I don't think they are in use anymore. Or maybe they do not offer them in the evening when I go into these stores. I'm not sure ...

Re: Rubios Mass Closing
Rubios entirely pulled out of Northern California. I expect we will see many more chains like this where the value equation doesn't quite work out, pull out of Northern California. Operating costs are out of control in that market. To get staffing in Northern California fast food you actually have t...

Re: Official: Red Lobster files Chapter 11
I think that timeline supports what I saw at the time. It was in the late 1970s through the 1980s. One store was in the SW area of Miami and the other was in the Denver area. I wish I could remember more about their exact locations but they were very well run and very busy, Food selection was like ...

Re: Do Romano's Macaroni Grill and Mimis Cafe have a future??
I had a store that shared a wall with a Safeway and their grease traps were near the air intakes for our HVAC. We were having sudden odor problems and the facilities folks traced it to their failure to clean their grease traps regularly. Ralphs probably just had them cleaned properly. The Reno Sam'...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
At this point I would assume they're not going to fully recover at the store level until Christmas. At this point, I don't think they will make it until Christmas. I sure hope they make it but going into these stores as much as I did the past two months in CA and seeing the empty shelves and ongoin...
