Re: Private label products being sold at other chains

Kroger's Ralphs-Food4Less-FoodsCo division still carries Turkey Hill ice cream and sweet iced tea and I still it on the shelves at every Ralphs or Food4Less store I visit. The label on the container says "Distributed by The Kroger Co Cincinatti OH". 99CentsOnly within the last couple of ye...

Re: Lucky South Gate, CA - Closed 2/2020

MegaFoods Warehouse was the chain in the San Diego County area. The Temecula Food4Less was originally a MegaFoods. No photos exist of the Max Foods Grocery Warehouse stores in Colorado - the only pictures that show up is the exterior of the Montebello CA location (converted to Albertsons). Any diffe...

Re: Walgreens Superstore In Philadelphia Closing

The other superstore of this format is the Hollywood CA store (I think it opened in 2016 - I visited that store the month it opened). This format is super colorful and was more of a glorified 7-Eleven type than a typical Walgreens and like the Philly store, emphasized convenience grocery/prepared fo...

Re: Smart & Final Torrance closed - Re-Opening as Amazon Fresh

The new SoCal Fresh stores that were mentioned earlier (Huntington, Murrieta, La Verne) are dark because they are in the process of hiring new employees and training them, and even if they are fully stocked inside, it is used for Prime grocery fulfillment. Apparently they prefer to hire a majority o...

Re: Lucky South Gate, CA - Closed 2/2020

The Anaheim ASC SuperSaver store is currently split as an Aldi and a Daniel's Home Center, with Aldi having 25% of the building space. This is on Euclid south of the 5 Freeway. I think the ASC SuperSavers in California were part of the Lucky division. For example The Covina store on Citrus (currentl...

Re: Smart & Final to be acquired by Bodega Latina

With the Anaheim plaza location, I think they could close either store or keep them together. They both serve different types of customers. City of La Puente has both S&F and El Super less than a mile apart along Hacienda Blvd. It appears both are here to stay. S&F did extensive remodeling o...

Re: Smart & Final Corona Del Mar Closed

I've only been to that store once...appears cramped on the outside but suitable space inside, but not suitable for the community. Albertsons was a better fit for the area.

Re: Private label products being sold at other chains

I found these private label brands at many mom-and-pop dollar/discount bargain stores across Southern California: Simply Nature (Aldi) Signature/O Organics (Albertsons). Albertsons' manufacturing subsidiary Lucerne Foods also produces a few brands for just the dollar stores (such as "Busy Baker...

Re: Dollar Tree Raising Prices

Many mom-and-pop stores typically call themselves 99 Discount Plus, 99 and Up, or Bargain. Lately, many things that used to be $1 pre-COVID era is now priced at $1.49 or higher. This is likely a trend to either compete with Daiso and other "dollar discount stores" or due to inflation/port ...

Re: Maverik to enter California

Love's recently expanded into California with the opening of several stores across the state, most recently on the 58 Freeway in the Kern County town of Boron (halfway between Bakersfield and Barstow). Boron Love's, opened Fall 2021 https://www.loves.com/locations/755 My guess is that pretty soon Ma...
