Re: LATimes.com ranks french fries

Are you a native Californian? Yes, guilty as charged. My admittedly small-sample informal study (circle of friends, acquaintances, colleagues, and fellow community volunteers) revealed that Native Californians L-O-V-E In'n'Out and transplants (like me) are not nearly as fond of them. I have heard t...

Re: LATimes.com ranks french fries

A agree about the fries. As gross as McDonald's food is in general (except the annual McRib of course lol) there is something addicting about their French fries. That's sad because In-N-Out actually cuts the potatoes fresh and in site of the customer but they just aren't very good IMO. On the other ...

Re: Rouses going to Florida

I'm confused. According to that article: "Site plan documents obtained by the Daily News indicate that Rouses Markets is the grocer expected to fill the space, but the company said making Destin the home of the chain’s first Florida store is not a done deal. “As one of the fastest growing family bus...

Re: Kroger Changes Strategy

Even that QueVision which seemed really good when it came out, seems to have fallen by the wayside as the stores don't have enough staffing to execute it properly anymore This is my biggest problem with Ralphs. The Ralphs at 3rd & Vermont is on my way home from work and I was doing the majority of ...

Re: Ralphs Apparently Dropping Van de Kamp's Bakery Brand Name

Ralphs seems to have some core stores that they spare no expense on, remodeling fairly often. Then they have stores that appear to perform well but for some reason do not get remodeled. Case in point is the Los Osos Store. This was built as Lucky then divested to Ralphs mid-construction so it opene...

I almost wonder if they need more stores to keep that Salt Lake distribution center viable.
Is Salt Lake City a full service distribution facility? For some reason I thought it was HABA only. Maybe that was a long time ago.

Re: Whole Foods Expansion

I can't say I'm surprised. This format was created to appease Wall Street when they were independent. Now under Amazon's ownership that is no longer necessary.

Ralphs makes those kind of announcements, too. It's very annoying.

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

I was reading some Yelp reviews on the Albertsons located on Hillhurst and Ambrose (Los Angeles). It looks like this store recently got a major remodel. After doing some research trying to figure out what decor package it received, it seems like it got the 'Florida Decor' package. I couldn't find a...

Re: Ralphs Apparently Dropping Van de Kamp's Bakery Brand Name

Unfortunately the Van de Kamps brand name is not well known by people under a certain age. They went out of business around 1990 so it's been a while since younger people have experienced the actual quality that Van de Kamps was known for years ago. The products with that name since then are just Va...
