Re: 365 by Whole Foods to close at Bellevue Square

If I'm reading that correctly Whole Foods agreed to stay open for 10 years without interruption as a term of their lease. So, I would think they would be on the hook for whatever damages could be proved by the owners of the shopping center in addition to all rent due until 2035 regardless of today's...

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

Speaking of Calabasas if you happen to have $40 million in the bank you can buy the shopping center: https://www.crexi.com/properties/156734/gelsons-village-calabasas And speaking of Century City, that store is not setting record sales by any means. One of my best friends is a manager in that store....

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

Has any new competition impacted the original stores that existed back when they were publicly traded that may have caused volumes in those stores to drop? Bristol Farms took over the former Haggen/Vons in Woodland Hills which has had an impact on the Calabasas store. They will also be opening in t...

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

I never got the impression Gelson's ran particularly high volume stores... it seems like competition is fierce and Gelson's offering is not modern enough. In their last year as a public company their average sales per store figure was a little more than $500,000 a week (that was five years ago) and...

Re: Gelsons opening first of former Haggen locations January 14

I have noted in previous posts that the store is not very busy, as well. This location is clearly not working for them. I wonder how long they will give it to find it's niche before closing it. I have been there three times since they remodeled between 5-7 p.m. when supermarkets are generally busy a...

Re: Progressive Grocers Top 50 U.S. grocers 2018

Honestly, this list is garbage by not including stores like Costco (grocery only sales would place it at #2 or #3), BJ's ($12-15 billion range), Target, (about $15 billion in grocery sales). The world has changed and the idea that these are not where people are buying groceries is ridiculous yet Wa...

Do these figures include fuel sales? Does 4 even operate fuel stations I know 5 doesn't operate fuel stations...
I don't know the answer to that. I don't think it would change the big picture too much, though.

Progressive Grocers Top 50 U.S. grocers 2018

This is by sales. I stumbled on this today. It was published back in May. It's amazing to see how much has changed in the industry. 1 - Walmart Inc. $159,809,000,000 2 - The Kroger Co. $79,240,200,000 3 - Albertsons Cos. Inc. $61,261,200,000 4 - Ahold Delhaize USA $46,119,320,000 5 - Publix Super Ma...

Re: Mental Health Clinic opens in N. Texas Walmart

They should open an extension in the Wal Mart on Second Street in Reno. It is near the state mental health facility. That Wal Mart is a real $h!t show. Lines routinely down the aisles. Multiple "greeters" at both entrances. Multiple temporary security camera poles throughout the parking lot. Filthy...

I assume this is their first expansion by acquisition in the U.S.
