Re: Supervalu Exiting the Cincinnati Market
At one time therre was even a biggs way out in Denver. I think Wally or Super Wally might occupy the site now. Yeah, I'm sure what's happening in Cincy is happening a lot of other places in the country. I would hate for Kroger and Wally to eventually be the only big players in town. It would be inte...

Re: Supervalu Exiting the Cincinnati Market
I'm aware of the usual Save-A-Lot arrangement. However, the Cincinnati Enquirer article which announced the Remke purchase/other biggs locations closing said that Supervalu would continue to operate the Cincinnati area Save-A-Lots. The Enquirer isn't a great daily paper and has been known to get thi...

Re: Supervalu Exiting the Cincinnati Market
Unfortunately, the thread I started which posited that biggs reducing its stores' hours of operation proved to be true. biggs reduces store hours--ominous sign?
The number four player (according to the most recent figures I've seen) in Cincinnati, Supervalu-owned biggs, recently reduced hours at all of their stores from 24/7 to 6AM to 11PM. I know that's still a lot of time to shop. But I don't see this as a positive sign for the chain. While I don't have t...

Grocery chains in your area
How many are there in your area, and which ones are the biggest? Which is your favorite? Are any other chains going to enter your market in the near future? I'm starting this thread mainly because of my interest in the topic in general, although I admit to a personal motive. I have a daughter with m...
