Re: 7-Eleven to buy Stripes
At this point, the ice bags was still branded as Stripes as of two days ago, some signage near the drinks is still Stripes, some employee uniforms are still Stripes (but a few have 7E uniforms), and the POS system still said Stripes (but it's the same as other 7-Eleven stores). I have no idea about...

Re: McDonalds and re-opening inside
All of my local McDonald's locations are owned by a single operator covering a large chunk of Louisiana. They have not reopened any dining rooms at all. All orders are either drive through or curbside. For reference, the franchisee covers Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Alexandria and Lake Charles, IIRC. Th...

Re: Fry’s Electronics out of business
This is sad, but the writing has been on the wall for some time. The switch to consignment sales were the biggest clue; no vendor trusted them with credit. In their heyday, they were an impressive store, but the last two visits I had were enough to drive me away. Low stock and hard to find help; tha...

Re: Boston Market
Boston Market is also opening in some more unusual places - Truck Stops, through TA Petro. The Lafayette, LA location shut down its traditional Country Pride Restaurant in favor of a Boston Market. My first question was simple: Why? The hours are cut down like a typical BM to lunch and dinner only, ...

Re: Sonic in a former Taco Bell
As a general rule, Sonic does not build indoor seating. I'd place the non-seating locations at closer to 98%. In places where a building is available, however, they have been known to set up shop and make it work. I have seen three such locations - two are now gone, but one still exists. Lafayette, ...

Re: WD Issues
It seems like in general WD in FL is a bit nicer than the rest of WD. I remember looking at photos of those LA Stores when they announced the sale to Super 1 and they looked awful. I think most of WD in LA, AL, and probably GA is similar to that. They did have one nice store in Birmingham. Brookshi...

Re: WD Issues
Winn Dixie in Key Biscanye, FL is a nice store by any measure and has more upscale features and merchandising. Different center store merchandising than I have seen by this chain- far more upscale products. It has beer on tap, had a squeezed juice machine, an on demand hot roll oven (that may be go...

Re: WD Issues
One thing I've noticed about Winn-Dixie is, and this could just be the overall nature of the stores and a lack of effort since the Marketplace days, but most of the chains out there (Kroger, Albertsons, H-E-B, Publix, etc.) have developed their stores to be a jack of all trades, you can have a some...

Re: WD Issues
Lately WD has been coming out with a concept of new, smaller stores, which have opened in a few locations in FL. These stores also have a new decor package which ties into the red and white package but is more colorful with greens, and other colors. I'm guessing this will be yet another one of WD's...
