Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

I agree with you here, the Kmarts look absolutely dire at this point. I cannot even believe how bad this is. Conditions never got this bad or even close to this during the first bankruptcy, even during the weeks following when Fleming cut the stores off. I kind of wonder in a way of this was done p...

Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

All I know if I was a liquidator, I'm not sure if it would be worth it to even bid on Sears/Kmart...there is less and less to liquidate as the days go by. My nearest Kmart is a top-performing location and is so void of merchandise at this point, I give them another month or two at absolute best (if ...

Re: Americans who love to cook on the decline - how will grocers react?

. The grocers need to get serious about their perimeter operations. They need to pay their deli employees enough to reduce turnover in that department. If they could sell more and cut down on shrink, they could easily afford the increased labor costs. The amount that these grocery store delis throw...

Re: Kroger (Simple Truth) commercial airing nationally

I heard this commercial in the Philly market on an iHeatRadio station. At the end it states, 'Available at the Kroger family of Stores' (which we all know none of which are in the Northeast, unless you are counting Vitacost like mentioned, but that would be a big stretch. Someone goofed somewhere.

Re: Ahold Delhaize (Stop & Shop) buys King Kullen

With as boring, uninspired, and high priced as Stop & Shop is, it is hard to imagine King Kullen was any worse. This is clearly a loss. And there appear to be a lot of overlapping stores. Any thought as to who might be interested in any overlapping stores? The only big players I can think of are Ac...

Re: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

The only thing we'll have an issue with after is who will step up and do all of what Sears once did. America has become a one-stop-shop customer group, and you simply don't have another retailer equipped or positioned like they once were. Walmart doesn't sell appliances or work on anything beyond r...

Re: Whole Foods Expansion

Honestly, I don't think Amazon has a clue what is is doing when it comes to B&M retail. I think the entire Whole Foods buy was a big move that is really going to hurt them in the long term.

Re: Sears/Kmart Death Watch 2018

Rough stuff. I guess the silver lining is that Sears Hometown will live on (for now), which includes the smaller Hardware and Appliance stores. How will they go on when they can't get any merchandise, or at least any 'Sears' brands (Kenmore mainly) that at least drew some people in? Maybe some will...

Re: CVS to focus more on Healthcare

What if CVS sold off their front end operations to Target? This would certainly give Target some needed growth in their new smaller-store formats. It has been rumored for years that CVS would outsource some of its front ends to Target. It hasn't happened yet. Many CVS Stores are probably too far go...
