Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway
I'm guessing that this week's radio ads were mistakenly "mixed up" for Albertson's in Albuquerque. However, today on local radio they were playing several variations on the "We do beef the best" campaign for Market Street. The closest Market Street to Albuquerque is in Amarillo, ...

Re: Safeway turned Smith's in Albuquerque
It was expanded by Furr's. I've lived here since 1999 and the store was always that large. Since the conversion to Smith's it has been remodeled at least twice--once right after the takeover and once more recently, around the time they closed another Smith's just up the street at Menaul and Carlisle...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway
The Albertsons ads for the last two weeks in Albuquerque are now the United Supermarkets/Albertsons Market ads. In searching other zip codes in New Mexico, Santa Fe, Taos, and the rest of the Albuquerque metro area are all on the United ad as well. The promotions for the New Mexico stores are simila...

Re: Sears borrows $300 million from CEO
The massive clearance sale is consistent with what happened Spring 2016 at the Albuquerque, Coronado Center Sears. For a couple of months, they had an ongoing clearance sale throughout the clothing area. The discounts kept increasing, with an additional 60-70% off the lowest price at one point. At l...

Re: New Kmart format "Kmart At A Discount"
That format sounds a lot like the "KDollar" format that came and went in Albuquerque in a matter of months. That space now is being totally rebuilt for Stein Mart and Hobby Lobby.

Re: K Mart 2014 Store Closings
Another Albuquerque closing. The store on West Central (which was supposed to be replaced by a new build SuperKMart, which eventually became a Verizon call center) will start its sale later this month. The closure will leave Albuquerque with one KMart (Carlisle/I-40--partially expanded to become Sup...

Re: K dollar
As of June 30, 2013, the Albuquerque KDollar is going out of business. The Albuquerque Journal had an advertisement for the $3 million dollar store closing and liquidation. I guess the KDollar concept didn't work out here.

Re: K dollar
I stopped again today to see what, if anything, I could find out about the store. The checkout area is now labeled "Dollar Market" and has some groceries and household necessities. Some of the merchandise is on shelves. The rest is in stacked plastic crates (the kind that sell for around $...

Re: K dollar
Ultimately, this concept might become a dollar store. However, the current merchandise is what KMart has always had. But, it's displayed like 1980s KMart, has clearance stickers all over it, is piled on shelves and racks without much organization other than shelves that obviously were just moved fro...

K dollar
Today I was driving in Albuquerque and saw a billboard for K dollar (red capital K, lowercase aqua/blue dollar. So, I had to stop. It's a Kmart that was a BigKmart for a while, then they removed Big, and now it just has the K with mart in script inside it. Next to the sign is a banner that says Kdol...
