Re: Walmart observations
I went to the Albuquerque/Carlisle Blvd. Walmart yesterday and they have removed all self-checkouts. Now, there are 30+ manned checkouts. Evidently, they went in overnight this past week and removed everything they had done in the past couple of years, and went back to manned checkouts to reduce the...

Re: Kohl's closing Albuquerque/Coronado Center due to theft
Macy's in the mall is an OK store. A few years ago they closed the other store in town and then put more money into the Coronado Center store, doing some updates that hadn't been done after Macy's moved from its location in the former Broadway building, into the Goldwater's/May D&F/Foley's where...

Kohl's closing Albuquerque/Coronado Center due to theft
I saw this on the news last night. The store closes today, 9/16, due to theft. This store was a former two-level Mervyn's (and before that Liberty House and Rhodes Western) that was remodeled and split between Kohl's (most of the first level and all of the second) and Paradise Bakery/Panera (one end...

And the last KMart in New Jersey (Westwood) is closing. Here's a link to a local news article.

Re: Lucky Closing- Larkspur, CA
Albuquerque and Santa Fe had Lucky-SavOn stores that were conversions of Jewel-Osco stores when they decided to rebrand the stores briefly prior to the buyout, at which time most of them became Albertsons-SavOn Pharmacy. From what I can see, some of the stores have the look of an integrated store, w...

Re: Kohl's To Open 100 Small Format Stores
In the last month, I've been in two of the Albuquerque stores. The NW location (freestanding, in a center with Sam's Club, Michaels, Barnes & Nobles, Dick's Warehouse Sale, Best Buy, Total Wine, HomeGoods--busy center) sounds similar, with the walls empty and long racks of clearance throughout. ...

Re: Tuesday Morning Files for Bankruptcy
They had a link to a "prettier" list in a store closing email I just received. Albuquerque's last store, along with Santa Fe, are closing this round. Albuquerque had another store close over the Christmas season, but it was a slow burn to nothing sale. This round will leave New Mexico with...

Re: Walmart 2023 Closings
The Albuquerque store was just remodeled and downsized. They actually built an interior wall and relocated the pharmacy back to the hardlines entrance during the remodel. The store had lots of merchandise behind glass and had much of HBA in a cage with a single entrance and exit. The store had secur...

Re: Safeway NorCal- Bananas "each"
Albuquerque, Albertsons Market, under United, has conventional bananas now 4/$1, which matches the price at Target here as well. I noticed the shift last week.

Re: Big Lots
Albuquerque just had two of its four stores close suddenly. The signs were removed from the buildings and the streets while the closing sales were happening. One of the stores had just been remodeled to the new prototype (with the bright wall graphics about becoming a "Bigionaire" by shopp...
