Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway
In terms of trailers, I've seen Randalls trailers on Highway 290 and Highway 6 (yeah, as of this month I can still confirm that the trucks go through College Station), but they're different (since December 2015), rather than the "Lifestyle" trucks, they're brown and advertise "Signatu...

Re: Filthy Ralphs Sparks Outrage
I've noticed that most of the grocery chains in SoCal have dingy stores... saggy shelves in a Vons, an old fish odor in an Albertsons... and let's not talk about the rest rooms.. That fish odor seems to be a chain-wide Albertsons fixture. Almost every Albertsons store in the Phoenix area has that o...

Re: Target to close 11 stores before year end
I have always felt Target was a bit of a joke. For all the bad reputations that Wal Mart has regarding many things (labor, putting small businesses out of business, etc.), Target operates in the same manner. What is even more interesting is typically Wal Mart's hourly employee wages are actually hi...

Re: Winn-Dixie continues Down Down (the drain?)
Well, the Winn-Dixie and Southern Home brands appear to be not long for this world... Looks like SEG is rolling out a "SE Grocers" brand. Not sure what to think of it, but it like the Albertsons Cos., seems to not think highly of the individual store brands. http://albertsonsfloridablog.bl...

JUDGEMENT DAY FOR THE HOUSTON DIVISION - RANDALLS STORE TO CLOSE ...but it's not one any of us suspected. 1525 S. Mason Road, a store built around 1999 as a Randalls (either one of the last Randalls-built Randalls or the first Safeway-built Randalls). http://www.chron.com/business/bizfeed/article/R...

Re: What now, SuperValu?
Supervalu is truly a disaster. They won't be able to continue under this path. SVU is just one of those companies that just can not ever get it right (Like A&P and Sears). They're going to die a long painful death, as well. What's astounding to me is that Cub Foods is rapidly being eroded, and ...

Re: What now, SuperValu?
More drama at SVU, same store sales, basket size, customer count all gone down since last year. Things are looking a bit better on the wholesale side (The Fresh Market and America's Food Basket are with them now), but their retail stores are deteriorating, with their flagship Cub Foods continuing to...

Re: Bristol Farms San Francisco Closing?
The San Francisco Bristol Farms was planned under Albertsons, and, opened right as the company was being broken apart. It was interesting they never opened any more NorCal locations. Maybe this was an "unwanted" store from the start. However there were some changes to this store over time...

Re: Albertsons and Safeway Openings/Closings 2017
I think we will see them close more overlapping stores over time. It will help their same store sales to close nearby stores and move that volume across the road, and that will be good ammo for them once they go public to help paint the picture of growth and successful operations they like to paint...
