Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores
Albertsons is remodeling the Montebello location. They rearranged the store and im not sure where anything is anymore. They did rename all the aisles with local street names which is kinda neat. Not sure when they are going to finish but its looking nice. I'll have to grab some pictures next time I...

Save Mart-Sonora-Pharmacy Issues
Appears some pharmacy issues with Save Mart in Sonora. Not clear what this is all about. https://www.uniondemocrat.com/news/article_1c2d60c2-bd10-11ec-a9ed-f70872036c02.html Have noticed in Reno the Save Mart units have large signs on the store entry doors that they do not carry cough syrups with Co...

Re: Kroger relocating store in north Plano
Interesting news on the DFW Kroger front this morning: Dallas Morning News Article (Paywalled) Kroger has announced that its store at 9700 Coit Road in Plano will be closing at a yet to be announced date and will be undergoing a "major relocation" to another site nearby, with all staff ma...

Re: Pricing Snapshot-Smiths-Reno, NV- Thanksgiving vs. Easter
Avian flu and residual Covid disruptions may be to blame. Actually many retailers are blaming egg price increases in regulations and "Cage Free" egg rules that have gone into effect or are about to go into effect in multiple states. Such law is not in effect yet in Nevada (July 2022) but ...

Re: Albertsons "Innovation" Center
Albertsons also added a top of the line gas station and convenience store to the parking lot at this store. It seems like it would make sense to have the current store either expanded or significantly renovated into something at the level of the Market Street unit or Broadway unit.

Re: $5 Meals at Wendy's and Burger King
Clever marketing - “we’re bringing back the Biggie Bag” when as mentioned, they’re just hiking the price of the 4 for $4 to $5 and rebranding it as the Biggie Bag. The original $5 Biggie Bag included a 10-piece nugget and a double bacon Double Stack or double bacon chicken sandwich. At least in SoC...

Re: Westfield Says It Is Done With The U.S.
They'd dumped Vancouver (Clark County, Wash.) Mall a while ago, and it seems to be doing fine under current owners. I do think some of the renovations and changes at Southcenter helped keep it relevant in the longer-term, so I don't feel the same dislike of Westfield that some Americans do. What is...

Re: Pricing Snapshot-Smiths-Reno, NV- Thanksgiving vs. Easter
Interesting how much eggs have climbed in price nationally. Just five years ago, I could regularly get a dozen eggs (in SoCal) for less than $1 at any major grocery chain. Now, I’m paying at least $4… I was still getting eggs around $1 last year. Even this year Smiths ran a digital coupon promotion...

Re: Burger King
Decided to give Burger King a try today. I had a coupon for 2 Bacon Cheeseburgers, Small Fry, Small Drink for $4. Coupon was accepted without issue. While waiting I did not see the Bacon Cheeseburgers on the menu so not sure what the price would be without the coupon but the Small Fry was 2.55 on th...

Re: Westfield Says It Is Done With The U.S.
Westfield were legends in their own mind in the US. Nobody cared about them at all. People only care about the quality of the mall. The Westfield malls were not consistent enough in layout or quality for customers to ever make a connection and say oh, those Westfield malls are the best, I will seek ...
