Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

Kroger said in a news release that it has “reduced prices every year since 2003.”
How can anyone say this with a straight face?

Farmer Boys also uses washable plates and bowls for a lot of its items (breakfast platters, salads, chili) as well as metal utensils. And they use paper cups--not plastic.

Re: First ALDI in Nevada coming to Henderson

Not surprised the first location would be in Southern Nevada, but would like to see one in Northern Nevada too.
They need to get to northern California as well.

Re: Safeway NorCal: 12pk Coke/Pepsi 10.99

I do most of my shopping at Aldi, but even their Coke prices are on the high side. Since I buy a lot of Diet Coke, I just wait until one of the major chains has a decent sale (I always check Flipp to see which one(s) are the cheapest). For example, right now both Ralphs and Food4Less are at $5 for a...

Re: Whole Foods stops growing

Kroger got very lucky the COVID era came and caused its pick up service to take off. We don't hear much about the Ocado initiative anymore so that probably tells us how that is going. Re: Great Value candy bars

Apparently store brand chocolate bars have the same problem as store brand cola beverages….close but no cigar. How true. I'm a store-brand fanatic, but only real Diet Coke will do. I always found it interesting that some products have either never been tried as store brands, or have been tried and ...

Re: Great Value candy bars

Aldi had their version of these in the Halloween fun size a few years ago, and Target and Trader Joe's had them this year. But the Walmart ones are the first full-sized clones I've seen. I tried the Snickers version -- it was similar, but the texture and the shape were off. Here's an article about t...

Re: 'Target CEO claims customers are saying ‘a big thank you’ for locking up merchandise'

I'm guessing Wal-Mart, who HAS definitely picked up new customers with Drive-up, is what is keeping Target from charging for Drive-up. But this certainly doesn't seem sustainable. It does seem like enough time has passed since the thick of COVID to add drive-up up-charges. They could publicly messa...
