Re: marie callender's

This should probably be combined with an existing Marie Callender's thread:

Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

There are not many Kmart stores left in some states. Georgia has no stores, North Carolina has four stores, and South Carolina has three stores. Washington, Idaho, and Montana each have two. Oregon, Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming each have one. Kmart has no stores left in several states now. Oregon and ...

Burgerville now allows tipping and may go on strike

https://www.koin.com/news/oregon/tips-ok-at-burgerville-but-they-may-go-on-strike/ In recent years, I am under the impression that this chain is trying to appeal more to the upscale crowd. Their prices are on the high end, and their food has become inconsistent from one location to the next. The uni...

Walgreens plans to close 200 stores

Like JCPenney recently, they are not releasing a list of closing locations. It will be interesting to see how this moves forward.

Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

21 more Sears closures and 5 more Kmart closures announced:

I am not familiar with any of the stores closing this time around. There is only one closure in Washington, in Spokane.

Re: J.C. Penney hires former Shopko executive to aid turnaround

JCP does not have time to be shuffling management around at this point. They needed a go to market strategy with strong merchandising and a consistent message for customers and employees last year. That message is still not coming as the company has continued to have management turnover this year a...

J.C. Penney hires former Shopko executive to aid turnaround

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-jc-penney-executive/j-c-penney-hires-former-shopko-executive-to-aid-turnaround-idUSKCN1UP2HJ An interesting move. Worth noting is that James DePaul left Shopko in 2015, well before Shopko's bankruptcy. this doesn't exactly clarify which direction JCPenney is headin...

Re: Sears Fears: The Final Days of Sears & Kmart, 2019

I was up north yesterday and stopped at Southcenter and paid a visit to the Sears store there to look for something. I had to leave quickly though. The mildew smell from the A/C is still present throughout the store, but it has gotten worse to the point it is now overpowering. If I worked there I wo...

Re: JCPenney Remodels

I visited a JCPenney and it was in the middle of a remodel. Target has had success with their recent remodels as well as their dance music. Perhaps JCPenney wants to copy this as well. My local Target installed a color changing snack bar cafe room. It looks like a dance club now. Not kidding. Perha...

Re: Portland, Ore. receiving first stand-alone CVS Pharmacy

I have been to a CVS store one time only when I was on a trip somewhere. It didn't really seem like anything special, good or bad, and prices were high but inline with Walgreens and Rite Aid. I have to wonder though why they don't try a little harder on making stores presentable when you consider th...
