Re: Walmart observations

Exactly right about Amazon--it's quite exhausting to shop through their endless departments, and the Chinese stuff isn't helping. I'd really like to figure out how to curate an Amazon search so that it's stuff they are selling (none of this resale crap) and thus that they stand behind...call me old...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Saw that earnings report... amazing. This cat has 99 lives. Only 86 of 145 stores closed so far... Opening 20 new "rural" stores in NY, VA, and IN. I thought they exited IN but I may be confused. Sounds like these stores will basically be pharmacy only and supplied by McKesson not Rite Aid...

Re: Publix will not give COVID Vaccine to children under 5

Okay now I see some additional information: 1. CVS will only give this vaccine to kids 18 months to 4 years of age via Minute Clinic (not through a vaccinating pharmacist/tech). But a 5 year old could get it from the vaccinating pharmacist/tech. 2. Walgreens will only give this vaccine to kids age 3...

Publix will not give COVID Vaccine to children under 5

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/publix-not-giving-covid-19-vaccine-children-younger-5 I'm not sure if we are going to be able to have this thread here before it goes off the rails but let's try. Obviously some media sources are coming to some... wild conclusions... about this decision. But that ...

Re: Raleys Douglas Blvd Roseville

Looks like the Sac Business Journal got a little ahead of itself. https://t.co/vscy9haikL Hopefully this saga can be put to rest soon with a decent long term lease. As mentioned above, it doesn’t do terrible volume and is in a good location with both high employment and established suburbs. I would...

Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores

Except for the flooring. All of the Florida decor stores that I have seen in Northern California still have the old worn brown Lifestyle floors. The Pavilions decor Safeway stores received new faux wood flooring. Truckee and South Lake Tahoe remodels into the Florida decor were converted to cement ...

Re: Safeway NorCal Remodels and New Stores

The Roseville / Granite Bay store on Sierra College Blvd recently got the standard Florida Package remodel. This store was built as a Safeway flagship and does very good volume. It also has a somewhat unique layout, I believe taken from Genuardi’s. I was a bit surprised that they didn’t go the Pavi...

Re: Bayfair Mall To Be Carved Up

This struggling mall in the crime ridden city of San Leandro, California just had large sections of it sold off to be developed. The plans are not yet finalized, but they plan on housing, office space for tech companies, and retail on the ground floor. This mall was the scene of multiple lootings i...

Re: Albertsons announces strategic review of company

It is interesting to see how some things happen... In Seattle, this little Safeway that's adjacent to major growth/redevelopment near UW property's long-term lease was bought by Albertsons alongside nearby properties on or before 2021. Now in 2022, major upzoning (preferred policy of Seattle at thi...

Re: Walmart observations

Amazon is Walmart's biggest competitor. However, I'm not sure Amazon's business model is sustainable and I can actually see a scenario where Amazon collapses before Walmart does. Amazon today is what Sears was in the 1970s / 1980s and it has the same problems that Sears had at that time. I think th...
