Re: Vons Westminster, CA 16450 Beach Blvd

It is possible that Hispanic markets have improved, but they disappointed me too many times to ever return. Plus, not a fan of their center store pricing or variety. Trust me when I say you would LOVE Northgate, especially their La Habra flagship. It's literally how an old school Pavilions would be...

Re: Buffalo Wild Wings

The location in Torrance at Del Amo mall requires a card before ordering and automatic 15% tip on "game nights" (which seems to be everyday). The wait staff are dumb as rocks and came back to my table multiple times because they forgot the order. When the order did finally come, things wer...

He basically described a 1980's Pavilions. That article is all over the place with inaccuracies.

Re: Vons Westminster, CA 16450 Beach Blvd

Not really surprising. I believe it's been on the "watch list" for years. The location was never great and the initial Pavilions leases were notorious for being to high. Westminster opened as a new Pavilions.....most of those have closed or changed to "Vons" branding. Most of th...

Re: Vons Westminster, CA 16450 Beach Blvd

I think Baldwin Park was their second location (currently Home Depot). Westminster was the 2nd store to open after Garden Grove in 86/87. I have an article somewhere showing only Garden Grove and the new Westminster location grand opening as the only 2 locations. Pavilions has lost it's way since t...

Re: Vons Westminster, CA 16450 Beach Blvd

Word from employees the rent was raised to $90,000 a month and the store was making $350K a month. The times I shopped at this store it was never really busy but that might be because of its size so it didn't look busy. It was "downgraded" to a Vons so that might have been a sign.

Pic "N" Save is back

Noticed a new Pic "N" Save now known as Pic "N" Save Bargains, is going to open soon. This one is on located near the Pico Rivera/Whittier boarder. There is a location in Anaheim that has been open for around 6 months now. It doesn't look like this has any affiliation to BigLots ...

Re: Smith's California Adventure

Smith's decision to leave SoCal was announced on January 9th, 1996. They had opened their first store in September 1991. At the time they had 34 stores and agreements to sell only 18 of them. "Ralphs, the region’s leading chain, bought eight of the stores: in Riverside, La Puente, Highland, Vi...

Re: The Future of Buffets, Salad Bars, and Self Serve?

Safeway is terrible about this. The bagels and bread sit out uncovered. Flies could crawl all over them. It was like that pre-pandemic. There has always been a small gap in the cases for flies to get in. I'm not sure if this is a design flaw or if it's intentional. Maybe its to keep the breads &quo...
