Cub Foods- Strike

Not clear if this is all of the Cub, the corporate ones only (what it appears) or some franchise ones too. https://www.fox9.com/news/grocery-workers-union-declares-strike-over-wages-employee-protections.amp I wonder what the new proposed wage chart for part time employees is... sounds like a load of...

Re: McDonald's preparing for big staffing cuts

The magnitude of the cuts is not yet clear but closing the corporate offices and even canceling meetings that were pre scheduled with vendors etc. is pretty significant. They just opened a new HQ in Downtown Chicago and last summer the CEO was mentioning it was hard to get people to work there due t...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

There is a 24 hour CVS in Fair Oaks (Sacramento), one in Fremont and one in San Jose. CVS hours in NorCal are mostly closing pharmacy at 7, 8, or 9. These are all recent cuts in hours of operation. They aren't adding 24 hour pharmacies, they are cutting them. Locations that offered it and stopped du...

Re: Dollar General

Dollar General has really been increasing prices since 2020 supply chain issues. I've posted about that here before. Their prices used to be within 5-10% of Wal Mart on various food, home, and drug items. Stack digital coupons and ad specials and they were a really good deal. But since then many of ...

Re: Ollie's Bargain Outlet To Open 45 New Stores

I notice in general the non food category is difficult for Grocery Outlet. The only cleaning or paper produce I have bought there in 5 years is Giant Eagle Facial Tissue and that was just to get the packages. The price was high. I visit 3 difficult Grocery Outlet units about once a week and then the...

Re: Starbucks Closing Some Stores Nationwide Due To Safety

I'm okay with unions as long as they have zero involvement in politics. That isn't how it works so there is a problem. I do not see anything getting better for workers either despite unions and their politics. It just keeps getting harder for workers and easier for the biggest corporations. These fl...

Re: Lucky Closing- Larkspur, CA

Albuquerque and Santa Fe had Lucky-SavOn stores that were conversions of Jewel-Osco stores when they decided to rebrand the stores briefly prior to the buyout, at which time most of them became Albertsons-SavOn Pharmacy. From what I can see, some of the stores have the look of an integrated store, ...

Re: Sprouts implementing .10 Bag Fee April 3

Went to Sprouts tonight. Signs posted all over the checkouts about the bag fee but they still have only thin bags and nothing about any bag fee actually happening. I didn't ask about it though. Looks like they have a couple weeks worth of thin bags left to go through.

Re: Trader Joes

The disappearing SKUs thing at Trader Joe's is annoying and seems to be hitting non perishable center store really significantly the past couple years. What did the store with no shelf tags do for price labeling? Some years ago they switched to computer generated shelf tags, which lasted for all but...

Re: Dollar General

You make some good points but the bottom line is that currently by they way they are managing these stores (1 or 2 employees?) they are making matters worse under the guise of making matters better. With average profit per store under $200k, it doesn't feel like there is much money to add more empl...
