Michael's to close Aaron Brothers

https://www.chainstoreage.com/real-estate/michaels-close-aaron-brothers-stores-brand-repositioning/ I've never been to Aaron Brothers. However Michael's is building a new store a couple of blocks from my house (in a former Fry's next to a Hobby Lobby)(so their main chain seems to still be doing well).

Re: Is the Kroger Company in position for an acquisition in 2017?

The new rumor seems to be a Kroger / Target combination (although sources say that there is no truth to the rumor). http://www.stltoday.com/business/local/target-kroger-shares-rise-on-report-of-merger-talks/article_6c968cc1-8224-52fc-bf2b-39f7c059feef.html#tncms-source=infinity-scroll-summary-sidera...

That's a good location for a Sprouts.

Sprouts has taken over a number of former Bashas' locations throughout the area.

Re: Toys R Us Could Seek Bankruptcy Protection to Deal With Its Crushing Debt

Maybe not an 800 store chain, but a 200 - 300 store chain with 1 or 2 locations in most major metropolitan areas (with stores that were more "destination" type stores) would potentially be successful. This was Toys "R" Us in the 1980's. Towns under 250,000 just didn't have one. ...

Re: Future of Retail - Amazon Monopoly?

Bezos is turning into a 21st Century robber baron IMHO He is. Like most robber barons, I'd expect his empire to crumble at some point. Amazon is essentially a 21st century Sears. It owns and operates a lot of different entities that don't appear to fit very well together and has so many focuses tha...

Re: Farm Fresh may be on its way out

I am glad to see Kroger was the main buyer. Hopefully they can do more in-fill deals picking up stores from weak regional chains in the coming months. What I find interesting about Kroger is that 8 stores are going to Kroger and 10 to Harris Teeter. I'd like to know their strategy with the two bann...

Re: Toys R Us Could Seek Bankruptcy Protection to Deal With Its Crushing Debt

The US division is now preparing to liquidate: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-03-08/toys-r-us-said-to-be-prepping-liquidation-of-u-s-operations I wonder if Bed Bath and Beyond would try to buy this or part of it, to add to its other peculiar low volume operations. I think they bought ...

Re: Scan, Bag, Go coming to 30 Ralphs locations starting in February 2018

I saw it in Arizona at a Fry's store (that I don't normally shop at but is down the street from my wife's employer) today. They were promoting it hard with multiple employees wearing "Scan, Bag, Go" t-shirts. Also, as this store caters to an older demographic, they had plenty of scanners: ...

Re: Kroger closing Savannah, GA

This store was located next to a Walmart Supercenter. Kroger also has fairly recently closed a Fry's location here in the Phoenix area that was located next to a Walmart (a division 1 store that became a supercenter).
