Re: Ralphs, Food 4 Less to Close 3 Los Angeles Stores over $5 per hour extra Hazard Pay

Ralph's has very good Kosher merchandising that it has in a handful of stores. Some stores have separate Kosher service delis. Albertsons, Vons or Pavilions or any other chain can't or don't want to compete at that level. This is why the community is upset. It's ironic since Albertsons has Jewel st...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

Yeah, remember in Baker City, Oregon, as both stores were going to be Portland division, they were going to open a Safeway across from a Safeway. Only because the community cried, they went ahead and re-bannered the Intermountain Albertsons > Haggen > (Portland) Albertsons. It also seems like Alber...

Re: Lack of ham this Easter

The good thing about ham is they have a lot preservatives and a long shelf life. There’s not as much risk as stocking up on fresh cut meat The Ralph’s near me stocked up on whole rib beef roasts which evidently didn’t sell well because they’re still there but now ‘seasoned’ to camouflage the change...

Re: Target Closing 2 Small Stores in the San Francisco Bay Area

Neither Target nor Walmart do perishables well. Both chains have awful produce, meat and bakery offerings. You may pick some of this stuff up as a convenience but no one is going to either store because of their amazing produce and meat. It's price and convenience. Having said that, I love the way ...

Re: Chickfila "reopening guide"

I have noticed in these fast foods the employees are stuck working very close together due to the configuration of the work spaces. It seems like they need to be a little more mindful of distancing each other better. Not sure what to say about customers who don't do the distancing thing. I notice it...

Re: Smart & Final Corona Del Mar Closed

The bigger surprise is Smart & Final took that location in the first place. What were they thinking exactly? The articles you post note CVS is taking 13,000 square feet of the store. I don't think there is enough space left for Albertsons to reopen. I went to my local Smart & Final over the ...

Re: New Seasons Market - 2021

I think it's already been noted here, but they are doing some expansions in 2022+23 , notably to downtown Vancouver, which lacks a traditional grocer and has a decent residential population. New story as of today, the chain has announced they will eliminate use of single use water bottles by Earth ...

Re: Albertsons continues to disappear from WA

These stores are operating the same programs, are using combined marketing, and are even using a combined plastic bag in Washington. Both brands are well known to consumers, so it's not like they are introducing, for example, Food Lion to Seattle. Why on earth would they keep both names? It costs m...

[quote=bryceleinan post_id=29386 time=1616898859 user_id=2979 Carson City just opened their building for take-out orders, and as a result, there is a definite decrease in curbside - the drive-thru lines seem to be the same. I'm guessing May 1st will be the next major milestone when individual counti...
