Re: Rite Aid's Future
For the last two years, Rite Aid has been cited as a company not likely to survive the year. Thus far they have survived, but the decision to stop new store construction does not bode well. RAD stock price is an all time low and I'm sure the banks are refusing to finance new store construction. The...

Isn't FoodsCo just the NorCal version of SoCal's Food4Less?

Re: O'Reilly-fication of CSK
Most of the Kragens seem to be ex-Kinney Shoe stores...signs with angled poles and angled roofs. I hate to see the Checker name disappear under the O'Reilly hillbillies  ....Checker was started in AZ as a spinoff of the Yellow Front chain (Army surplus ,Levis, and sporting goods stores)...many ...

Re: Costco stops selling Coca-Cola brands
Arby's and Wendy's are now owned by the same company...Arby's serves Pepsi, while Wendy's pours Coke
When will one of the fast-feeders go bi-cola? The big C-store operators have both Coke and Pepsi in their fountains.

Re: Bashas- Announcement?
The People's Republic of Tucson has a so-called "big box" ordinance in attempt to keep out the Super Wallys...the Super WM's are in adjoining areas outside Tucson city limits, like Marana. As are the new Fry's Marketplace stores.

Re: Bashas- Announcement?
LLC can't run it's own stores, how do they think they can run Bashas" profitably?
A logical combination would be Bashas' and Stater Bros...similar store counts, adjoining markets, similar store sizes, same 'hometown" image...and they buy from the same private-label supplier (Topco)

Re: Frys Marketplace Shea/Tatum Closing
It's being converted into a Fry's Signature (upscale)..it was a Smitty's
A number of former Smitty's/Fred Meyers that were converted to Fry's Marketplaces are being changed to traditional Fry's stores...they are too small for the current Marketplace concept.

"Mothballed" Fresh & Easys?
There seem to be a bunch of Fresh & Easys in Phoenix (most on the Westside) that have been fully signaged, but have not been stocked and have no signs as to when they are to open. Is this also happening in California?
