Re: Review: King Soopers
That store had the weird entry thing going on a number of years ago when I was there. It was odd, I was on foot, and getting into the store was confusing for me as a first time customer. As I recall the only way in/out was right by self checkout which I think was by deli. I liked the Whole Foods a l...

Re: Stores that never were: Sacramento edition
Since Nugget Markets is headquartered in Woodland I expect Wal Mart was kept from expanding in an effort to protect the Nugget Store and the Food 4 Less Store there (franchised by Nugget). Safeway never got into Woodland in the 2000 era expansion around Sacramento area either; they had a site but i...

Re: Rubys "Shake Shack" opening in Reno
The developer is the former Raising Canes franchisee who developed out all of Nevada and Arizona for Raising Canes. These guys are very strong operators and their ability to build those two states out for Raising Canes, become the largest franchisee, then sell the u units all to corporate was quite ...

Says it will run as a subsidiary and won't rebrand. Also it will keep using AWG?
Find that hard to believe.
Also didn't SVT have stores in IL? Now all are in IN?

Re: Valley Center Albertsons canceled
Knowing how Kroger is about new stores out west........ can't help but wonder if the developer got spooked about what may happen if Kroger got control here and decided to just sell the site. Plus Albertsons kept delaying and delaying which was odd as well. At least NorCal Safeway is continuing to de...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
ANOTHER "store of the future" closing - along with 13 additional east coast stores announced 4/16 in bankruptcy docket. 1624 Laskin Road in Virginia Beach. I find it odd they had so many of these in Virginia Beach. Also how they seem to be closing so many stores there. Wondering if this wa...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores
Reading on Reddit that Rite Aid is laying off employees in the stores, it appears the unionized CA Stores are getting hit by this. Not sure what the union is doing... I guess the same thing it has been for the past 4 years when some locals have been working without a contract... at least they collec...

Re: Target Rolls 10 item "Express Self Checkout" Nationwide
Walmart has upgraded employee quality but also established pride in the workplace. My Walmart stores must be very different from yours, because Walmart is the last place I see employees with any pride in the workplace. They seem to be bitter, overworked and frustrated. I'm glad this isn't universal...

Re: Stores that never were: Sacramento edition
Were there any towns that a Staples or Office Depot was proposed that never got one, or playgrounds proposed at Carl's Jr locations that never got one, or ones that already had an outdoor one, but were intended to remodel it into an indoor one?? How are the remaining Staples in those rural markets ...
