Re: Walgreens Close To Buying Rite Aid
I'd bet some of the stores in SoCal will become "new" Sav-on stores given that Albertsons wants to keep the name alive there. They've definitely got the food aspect okay.

Re: CVS closing 70 stores
If those locations lacked a pharmacy, then Target would decide whether or not to include a pharmacy. If a Target does take over, the store would see a big increase in traffic. The traffic would probably be enough to support a CVS Pharmacy. I don't know if Target would then contact CVS and tell them...

Re: CVS closing 70 stores
What if at least a few of those CVS stores actually lacked a pharmacy...?

Re: CVS closing 70 stores
I imagine the stores in the strip shopping centers will be many of the closures...most of those are former Skaggs/Osco/Sav-on sites with more floor space than CVS needs Your quote immediately made me think of the former Katz City in Springfield. Realistically, though, I'm thinking that the victims ...

Re: Sobeys Buys Canada Safeway
Things just continue to get worse at Sobeys. At this point, I can see them doing mass closures or trying to sell Safeway Canada back to Albertsons. Probably the former, since I doubt Albertsons wants it back.

The VONS at 5630 Lake Murray Blvd in La Mesa, CA re-opened on 3/8/16. It was a VONS, became a Haggen, closed, and was re-opened as a VONS. Prior to being Haggenated it had the first generation Lifestyle interior. After being re-converted it has the second generation Lifestyle interior with a few ad...

Re: Sonoma County’s G&G Supermarkets purchased by Safeway
G&G Supermarkets were supposed to reopen as Safeway sometime in mid-December, presumably to be able to catch the Christmas shopping season. Unfortunately, Safeway doesn't put the "opening dates" on their website anymore unless it's a 1-2 days away (it seems). EDIT: Just called the stor...

Re: Location of Albertsons Store Closure in Phoenix
When trying to Google the address, I found that Safeway's career website lists Produce Manager, Assistant Deli Manager, AND Bakery Manager for these stores, so one of three possibilities exist: - The store across the street will not be closed (the most unlikely of the three but due to the merger, th...

Re: Albertsons use of Osco/Sav-On Names
So why I wonder are they putting the Sav-On name on a store again now? Maybe they are trying to lure customers into the store by using the familiar Sav-On name. It also keeps the trademarks active rather than risking having the names taken from under them based on abandonment clauses. It looks like...

Re: Walgreens Close To Buying Rite Aid
Office Depot and Office Max coexisted less than a mile apart where I live until about a month ago when Office Max closed. Staples is not present where I live and does not have as big of a presence in the region. What I am getting at is that with this, Sears/Kmart, Safeway/Albertson's, and I am sure...
