Re: Amazon Fresh, take 2
I also think the dirty secret as to why it works so well in those environments is because of the pricing model. If someone grabs a Coors Light and the system accidentally rings up a regular Coors, who cares? The pricing is the same for a beer, a candy bar, etc. This seems to be the perfect solution...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I do wonder would it have worked out differently if Haggen had warehouses, or would it have been the same end result? One of the things I remember reading about Haggen is that they were much more expensive than the Albertsons/Safeway stores they replaced, and the perishable departments were not the...

As far as new to the market goes, Tractor Supply Co. took over Orscheln, but had to divest half of the stores. As a result, Bomgaars is now operating stores in new markets far away from its old home base in the midwest.
It remains to be seen if they do well.

Re: Macys Stores Closing by 2026
I went to the Streets of Tanasbourne store yesterday. Some observations...it's a two-level store in a lifestyle center that is already set up for a Macy's smaller format store. About half of the top floor is furniture. About a 1/3 of the first floor is the disorganized mess better known as Backstag...

Re: Here come the price increases!
For the Original in CA I'm seeing a floor price of 6.35 in Auburn and a ceiling price of 6.85 in Los Angeles. Most locations are 6.49 from Roseville to Fairfield (used to be 3 different price scales along that territory) and down to Bakersfield. So this appears to be cutting down the number of pric...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
Just my opinion, but judging from history, my opinion of this merger has changed 180 degrees. I think the merger should be allowed to go through with the amount of divestitures Kroger/Albertsons currently want. C&S may not fail as bad as the Haagan debacle, but it will fail. The simple answer i...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact
I doubt C&S is out, I think this just gets them more stores. They have a signed purchase agreement and until FTC formally denies them as a buyer I do not see them going away. Great deal for C&S. If I were them no way I'd be "out" with the bargain price... If C&S does go away I...

Re: Restaurant Fees
Perch (rooftop bar in downtown LA) now has a 4.5% "security fee". Typical, business owners continue to force customers to subsidize their business. Customers will continue to be forced to "work" to spend their money and to help owners pay for their overhead expenses (costs for o...
