Re: New Ralphs/Kroger Interior
Looking at photos of that Anaheim Hills Store I see also they have some fixtures in the standard Lifestyle format placed on the front wall and above the deli sandwich counter. So they have most of the departments with Pavilions looking wall letters but then some random ones with the standard Lifest...

Re: CA Attempts to ban super thick plastic bags
The Mayor of San Francisco is lobbying to get Prop 47 changed so that theft and drugs will be prosecuted again. Maybe that will do something. Getting that done will be tough. There will be a lot of noise. Recall the efforts it took to pass Prop 47 and the heavy support. Easier to play childish game...

Re: Kroger CFO Leaving for another public company
Is either company in financial trouble? Both of those seem like at odds with each other. The big question is what happens to Albertsons. In 2018, some Forbes analysts talked about the idea that Alibaba should buy Albertsons. I don’t see that happening considering the US government would not approve...

Re: California Grocery Market down 4-5%??
Central Valley is having issues at egg farms too. Supply is tight in NorCal as production has been impacted and prices have shot up. This puts pressure on SoCal supply as eggs that previously went to SoCal are now getting paid a premium price to go to NorCal instead. I think this is why stores like...

Re: California Grocery Market down 4-5%??
Albertsons & Vons are $2.97 for a dozen large eggs. It's in the ad this week. There is no shortage of eggs in Southern California only Northern California. Central Valley is having issues at egg farms too. Supply is tight in NorCal as production has been impacted and prices have shot up. This p...

Re: California Grocery Market down 4-5%??
I do find it interesting these flu outbreaks seem to be causing more problems since the "cage free" laws went into effect. Evidently it is easier to spread flu when the sick birds are able to roam freely, as opposed to isolating in a cage to stop the spread (oh memories of 2020). Who woul...

Re: California Grocery Market down 4-5%??
I read it as their California market is down 4% to 5%. The comparison to Sprouts and Albertsons is very relevant here as I suspect their results are more in line with the overall market, maybe even underperforming to it. I am not sure how Walmart is doing, but with their lack of sale prices in food...
