Re: Supervalu Exiting the Cincinnati Market

Biggs isn't anything like Fred Meyer (that's Meijer's market). Their general merchandise section was pretty small and not nearly as extensive.

Kroger probably couldn't have bought them if they wanted to. Anti-trust flags would have flown everywhere.

Re: FedEx Kinko's/FedEx Office

Our local store got its sign changed last week.

I think they're smaller too.

Re: Supervalu Exiting the Cincinnati Market

I see. Supervalu is really terrible at running supermarkets. It seems like what they want to do is go back and focus on being a wholesaler. That's the only thing they seem to be able to manage. They will sell off whatever stores they can and try to gain more customers as a wholesaler. Seems like Na...

Re: Safeway to Relocate Bonners Ferry, ID Store

Somebody had brought it up on Groceteria once and I don't believe there ever was an answer, but I still want to know what the deal is with the portraits hanging in the old store.

Re: Albertsons Exiting Utah

I was in Utah over the weekend. All of the buildings I saw now have the new signage.

I went into the Layton store, which still has a hodgepodge Albertson's interior package. But the interior signage for the aisles and otherwise have been changed.

Re: Safeway Has Added Self Checkout Machines

Safeway's big Lifestyle store in Boulder, CO (which has the biggest organic produce section of any Safeway I've seen), added self-checkouts after their remodel about five years ago. I shopped there at like five in the morning. It was the only option for checking out, and nobody was around to help if...

Re: WinCo planning to enter Phoenix market

That seems like kind of a stretch for their existing distribution network. One would have to think they'll infill and have a new distribution center in Nevada or Arizona.

Re: A mini-mart swiping the City Market name in Seattle?

I checked the ZIP code at Kroger's website and it doesn't list that store, but that's EXACTLY City Market's logo. I suppose it's possible the owners got hold of a used City Market logo somewhere and decided to run with it...or maybe Kroger's testing a small community market concept and not wanting t...
