Re: California Grocery Market down 4-5%??

I read it as their California market is down 4% to 5%. The comparison to Sprouts and Albertsons is very relevant here as I suspect their results are more in line with the overall market, maybe even underperforming to it. I am not sure how Walmart is doing, but with their lack of sale prices in food...

Re: Vons Lake Elsinore Closing May 4th

What killed both stores was the years long project to rebuild and reconfigure the off-ramps from I-15 North, which made the center more difficult to access. Visibility is poor, so probably ideal for a destination business like the boat place. The location Walmart moved to has inadequate roadways an...

Re: Vons Lake Elsinore Closing May 4th

What is interesting is how the shopping center stayed relatively occupied despite losing Vons and Wal Mart. I wonder if this would still be open as Vons, had Albertsons/Vons not been merged...... Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

Just looking at their own store locator, yes there are plenty of holes in it. There are gaps all along I-15 all the way through Temecula (where Albertsons has a 2 to 1 store ratio in the entire valley for example). Are there some areas where there's concentration? Sure. But there are plenty of spot...

Re: Vons Lake Elsinore Closing May 4th

This former Vons store will become an EōS Fitness location this year. The Walmart in the same shopping center, which relocated 2 exits north at the end of March, 2021 in a new build space and upgraded to a Walmart SuperCenter, will become a boat dealership. https://patch.com/california/lakeelsinore-...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

WA lawsuit filed. CNBC reporting a joint statement from Kroger, Albertsons, and C&S announcing that the merger close is now delayed and "they expect it to close by the first half of Kroger's fiscal year." Which would mean if they got approval they now would not close until at least mi...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

In the areas where Albertsons is strongest in the IE Stater has holes in their network of stores. They're only saturated in San Bernardino County where Ralphs is virtually non existing and Albertsons is weak. Many Stater gaps in Riverside County where it appears they're second place to Albertsons. ...

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

Yet the FTC has indeed allowed a lot of other silliness over the last two decades that has not been allowed before. I would wait before you automatically write this one off. I know it would create a giant monster, but the government loves giant monsters these days. I work for the government. I alre...
