Re: Macys Union Square closing

That store has been there for almost 100 years. It opened as O'Connor Moffat in 1929. Macy's bought them out in 1945 and rebranded the store as Macy's in 1947.

Re: Macy's Buyout? Private ownership bid

The fact that they're closing their longtime West Coast flagship store in Union Square in SF is a MAJOR indicator of problems. This would almost be equivalent to closing the Herald Square store.

Re: 🛒 Kroger-Albertsons Merger: National Impact

Farmer Boys also uses washable plates and bowls for a lot of its items (breakfast platters, salads, chili) as well as metal utensils. And they use paper cups--not plastic.

Re: First ALDI in Nevada coming to Henderson

Not surprised the first location would be in Southern Nevada, but would like to see one in Northern Nevada too.

Re: Safeway NorCal: 12pk Coke/Pepsi 10.99

I do most of my shopping at Aldi, but even their Coke prices are on the high side. Since I buy a lot of Diet Coke, I just wait until one of the major chains has a decent sale (I always check Flipp to see which one(s) are the cheapest). For example, right now both Ralphs and Food4Less are at $5 for a...

And from what I see their pick up business is very strong; in some stores they are definitely doing heavier pick up...

Re: Great Value candy bars

Apparently store brand chocolate bars have the same problem as store brand cola beverages….close but no cigar. How true. I'm a store-brand fanatic, but only real Diet Coke will do. I always found it interesting that some products have either never been tried as store brands, or have been tried and ...

Re: Great Value candy bars

Aldi had their version of these in the Halloween fun size a few years ago, and Target and Trader Joe's had them this year. But the Walmart ones are the first full-sized clones I've seen. I tried the Snickers version -- it was similar, but the texture and the shape were off. Here's an article about t...
