Re: Customer Road Albertsons in Plano Closing

Admin: please delete this thread due to the subject typo. You can actually edit the post's title if you edit the first post. Anyway...this was one of the original Albertsons in the Dallas area when they invaded in the early 1980s [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHtjPpNYbdc], before they acquired th...

Custer Road Albertsons in Plano Closing

Just announced: the Albertsons at Custer and 15th in Plano, TX will be closing at the end of April. Coincidentally, this is the last operating Albertsons in all of Plano (a massive suburb with a ton of wealth). Although this will leave no Albertsons stores anywhere in the area, the closure of this l...

Re: United to buy 7 stores from Lawrence Bros.

This is an interesting move to say the least. Aside from the Roswell and Abilene stores, these locations are mostly in small towns, which likely limits their potential for sales growth. It seems like these stores would be more of a hastle to rebrand than they are worth revenue-wise.

Re: DFW Tom Thumb/Albertsons/MArket Street Observations

Market Street update: I was at the Park/Preston location earlier this evening and finally found the Arriba coffee; it is alive and well. The coffee is found on an endcap away from the main coffee section, and is available in both prebagged and bulk varieties. The signage for it also carries a strong...

Re: DFW Tom Thumb/Albertsons/MArket Street Observations

I didn't realize that United has already converted a few Albertson's to the Market Street banner in Midland/Odessa area. The Yelp reviews seem to be generally positive about the conversions. There are some photos at this link. They kept the Albertson's bright fluorescent lights but other than that ...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

Looks like Lucerne/Pantry Essentials is fully in Louisiana now (it was in Lafayette in October), and no more Good Day in Louisiana. It looks like they're marketing Pantry Essentials and Lucerne as the same price? :? My guess is that the Louisiana stores are now being served exclusively by the Randa...

Re: Remodeled Vons - Lifestyle alive and well

Sorry, but when you remodel a store you also get the operation straightened out. You do not have an understaffed situation when you have a "grand opening" banner out front. The "Albertsons Playbook" refers to a program called GOLD ("Grand Opening Look Daily"). This ref...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

Several other Albertsons/Vons opened yesterday. I don't know what décor packages everyone is using because for new and remodeled stores, there's probably at least five packages floating around right now, as a Dominick's reopened with a script-looking thing that's similar to LLC (but isn't), LLC, Li...

Re: Integration of Albertsons and Safeway

Actually that store in Goleta was a first generation lifestyle. I have photos of it. So this is a decor change. It is MUCH brighter now. I can't figure out what "Famous Bakehouse" is because I see Safeway locations use those bags for various bread products and rolls in their service baker...

Re: Yet another HEB DFW store rumor

The Sun Fresh name isn't even a Minyard concept, it's an AWG one, which bought the stores (link). You just hit the nail on the head; it's an AWG concept . Concepts with AWG are marketed to their members; typically AWG doesn't own the stores. Cash Saver is another AWG concept that's making its way t...
